*Serial robber back in court*
ONE of the armed robbers involved in the robbery, which led to the death of Marondera businessman Luckas Chimoka, is back in court.
He is facing fresh counts of armed robberies.
The suspect, Josphat Muchenje, appeared before regional magistrate Taurai Manuwere, who remanded him in custody.
Muchenje was already in remand prison for the Marondera robbery and murder.
The court heard that Muchenje and his accomplice, Peter Chirasasa, and others still at large, intercepted Talent Zvoutete, as he got home in Domboshava, in December, last year.
They were armed with an unknown pistol and allegedly threatened to shoot him, if he refused to do as they demanded.
They tied Zvoutete’s tenants with ropes before assaulting him, and his wife, demanding money.
They took US$400 from his wallet and groceries, which they loaded into his car, and fled.
They later dumped the car along Speke Avenue.
On the second count, the court heard that the complainant sent his daughter to collect his phone from the car.
As she got to the car, she was accosted by Muchenje, and his accomplices, who threatened to shoot her.
They went back into the house with her.
They ordered everyone to lie down before ransacking the house and stealing US$690 cash, groceries and blankets.
On the third count, the court heard that Muchenje and accomplices broke into the house of a registered gold dealer, Godfrey Matoma, in Domboshava, on May 28.
Matoma and his wife were in bed.
The robbers ordered them to cover their heads.
One of the robbers struck Matoma on the forehead ,with the flat side of the machete, which prompted his wife to give them US$48 000, which was in the wardrobe.
They stole clothes and shoes, and fled the scene.
Shepherd Makonde appeared for the State. _*HMetro*_
