Finding your purpose can be one of the most gratifying feelings in the world. Sometimes, clues and hints to our reason for existing sit around us. Life also tends to push us towards our God-given purpose.
Certain talents, like heirlooms, are often passed down from generation to generation. This proved to be true for Tamari Tsitsi (nee Muchini) Madiro TsiTsi Madiro Music who, combining her song writing skills with a captivatingly mellow voice, uses her gift to praise and worship in the house of the Lord.
Since a young age, Tsitsi bore an affinity for singing and music. Being part of a family that was in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, helped her realise her fondness for singing in an acapella setup. Juxtaposed to the church she was in; she did not have that personal relationship with God. As she said “Worship provoked me a desire to know God more.” Consequently, she began to listen to more of this worship music. Through this she developed a hunger for the word of God.
Fast forward to her post-high school life, she found herself willing to further her education. It was at COSA college where she met Catherine Tapedzisa who invited her to her place of worship, Celebration International Ministries. A single visit eventually turned into a permanent membership. After surmounting challenges that stemmed from the adjustment, Tsitsi was baptised and she found her place in the choir. Celebration Ministries International expanded and another congregation was established in Westgate: Celebration Church Zimbabwe. During this transition, she was appointed as one of the worship leaders. The pressure that came with this position pushed her into growing as a worshiper. As she continued to mature as a worshiper, she started exploring the art of song writing. Poetry and scripture-based songs grew into songs about her experiences and relationship with God. Despite not being confident about sharing her songs with people she took a leap of faith and took one of her songs to a renowned Zimbabwean artist who then told her that her song was not good enough. Because she had gone to him with an open heart, she felt the keen sting of the discouragement and disappointment. She described this as an experience that forced her to go back into her "safe place" and was afraid to step out. Through her experiences, Tsitsi has come to believe that when God calls you for a certain purpose, you will find yourself gravitating towards that purpose. During an end of year church service, Tsitsi was asked to sing for the congregation. A sequence of coincidences led her and a team of vocalists to sing one of Tsitsi original songs. At this time, she decided to bring out the same song that had been deemed not good enough. Being a relatively ways song to learn, the team of musicians she was working were playing it in no time. She described the experience a amazing and she admits to being shaken by the impact the song had on the people.
Her journey, like any other, did have its unpleasantness’s. Apart from the time she had to invest in her music career, acquiring sponsorship was another adversity. Producing, marketing and distributing her music requires a bit of money and acquiring sponsorship proved to be a challenge. Tsitsi was, on occasion, offered contracts that were not conducive enough for her to sign. Despite all of this, she still encourages other artists to be true to themselves and their kind of music, even though, the pressure to be like everyone else may arise. She tells artists to be all that God created them to be and to stay focused on the real goal which is to do His will.
Tsitsi has a deep-set desire to worship God and have people encounter God through her music. For her, it’s not about the fame or her. She believes that her music is and should just be a gateway through which God can interact with people as they worship. She acknowledges that there does exist some element of politicking in churches but she believes that we were called to do more than focus on this politics; we were called to do the will of God.
She has worked with established musicians over the years; OFFICIAL Nicole C. Mullen and Sinach being part of this list. She still, however, maintains an amiable meekness. Over the years she has developed her song writing into music and recently released her first released single titled Worthy of Praise. This track is described as being different to her more profound worship music. This song sprung put from the aspect of lifting up his name in unity.
"Regardless of our different ethnicities, we will stand before the Lord and we will shout our praises to Him, as one..."
