*Security Forces Alert and Ready for Instigators of Violence*

As the nation joyfully welcomes the dawn of 2024, we are proud to acknowledge the prevailing atmosphere of peace and prosperity that has allowed our citizens to engage in various socio-economic activities without hindrance. Regrettably, there remain individuals and groups within our society who brazenly defy this peaceful environment, clandestinely orchestrating disruptive gatherings and economic subversion.

Furthermore, certain opposition activists have shamelessly resorted to disseminating false and inflammatory messages through social media platforms, deliberately aiming to incite our law-abiding citizens towards unlawful actions.

*Let this be a stark and unambiguous warning: our nation's security forces stand unwaveringly vigilant and fully prepared to decisively address any criminal intentions exhibited by these individuals or groups hell-bent on sowing chaos, disorder, and despair among our fellow Zimbabweans throughout the year 2024.*

This warning is issued in light of recent statements made by the recalled Member of Parliament for Cowdray Park and administrator of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) youth task force, Pashor Sibanda. He has been quoted as openly declaring their readiness to take to the streets, even advocating for the incitement of our youth to engage in unlawful protests and disturbances.

Sibanda's reckless and unlawful threats unmistakably point towards the CCC's inability to accept the outcome of the August 2023 elections. Despite losing at the polls and subsequent by-elections, as well as facing repeated legal setbacks, they have resorted to their familiar recourse - violence - to alleviate their mounting frustration.

It is worth noting that this penchant for violence is not a newfound strategy; it was evident even before the August 2023 elections. Opposition leader Chamisa had already assembled a team of agitators, with the intent widespread protests across our nation, causing harm to innocent citizens and significant damage to public infrastructure. This explains why Chamisa single-handedly decided to replace Fadzai Mahere with Promise Mkwananzi, known for orchestrating illegal protests. Since he was appointed CCC Spokesperson, his social media statements have hinted at a revival of such destructive actions.

The planned violent protests by CCC's youth task-force administrator, Pashor Sibanda, and his cohorts are a direct affront to the hard-earned peace that has prevailed throughout the pre-election, election, and post-election periods. This peace has been celebrated by all and sundry, and it is our collective responsibility to preserve and nurture it.

We call upon all Zimbabweans to carry on with their daily routines, assured of their safety and security in our beloved nation. Any instances of disturbances should be promptly reported to the authorities so that those fomenting such disruptions can be swiftly dealt with and brought to justice. We stand united in our commitment to uphold the peace and prosperity of Zimbabwe.

*2024: A Year of Soul-Searching for CCC's Supporters*

The year 2024 has arrived, and for supporters of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), it may be time to introspect and reevaluate their loyalty to Nelson Chamisa. Despite his often soaring rhetoric, Chamisa's leadership has been marked by a lack of direction, divisive actions, and a growing disconnect from reality. This comes as the CCC leader faces increasing scrutiny and dissent within his own ranks.

Chamisa's passionate followers, particularly the vocal and unnecessarily argumentative online supporters, often referred to as "keyboard warriors," continue to rally behind their leader despite mounting evidence of his leadership flaws. While Chamisa regularly invokes faith in his speeches, some question whether divine intervention is truly at play.

In biblical terms, faith without corresponding actions is deemed futile, a concept that appears to be lost on Chamisa. Critics point to several contentious actions throughout his political career, including his controversial rise to power within the MDC-Alliance after the death of Morgan Tsvangirai. On that occasion, he disregarded all constitutional norms and democratic principles.

Furthermore, violence and intimidation mar his record, including an incident where his supporters reportedly attacked Thokozani Khupe, a rival within the MDC (now CCC), and literally tried to set her on fire. Chamisa has also been accused of inciting violent protests in 2018 and 2021, leading to numerous casualties and arrests among his supporters.

Another significant criticism revolves around the transformation of the MDC Alliance into the CCC, a move that was seen by some as undemocratic and aimed at consolidating power around Chamisa himself. His tendency to handpick loyalists for key positions and impose candidates has resulted in internal divisions and vote-splitting, ultimately weakening the opposition's position in Zimbabwean politics.

These criticisms have not gone unnoticed within the CCC. The emergence of internal dissent, symbolised by figures like Sengezo Tshabangu, has raised questions about Chamisa's leadership and his ability to unite the party. Additionally, allegations of misappropriating funds running into millions earmarked for poll agents from the European Union have further eroded his credibility.

Chamisa has faced defeat in two consecutive elections, in 2018 and 2023, failing to mount a significant challenge against President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF. Some observers argue that his poor strategies and actions have not only hindered his own political fortunes but have also contributed to the fragmentation and decline of the broader MDC movement.

In light of these developments, many are calling on Chamisa's supporters, including the often-faithful "keyboard warriors", to critically assess their allegiance. While Chamisa continues to invoke faith as a rallying cry, his actions and electoral track record have left some questioning whether divine intervention is truly on his side.

It is essential for supporters to separate rhetoric from reality and critically evaluate Chamisa's leadership, as he faces growing criticism and a string of electoral defeats. Whether he can rekindle faith in his leadership or faces further internal challenges remains to be seen, but 2024 promises to be a pivotal year for the CCC politics.

Strategic Ambiguity or Leadership Vacuum? Analysing the CCC's Performance in 2023.

Today, 1st January 2024, signifies a noteworthy moment for a critical appraisal of the performance of Zimbabwe's political entities in the preceding year.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), an opposition force in Zimbabwe, encountered a series of substantial setbacks in 2023, which warrant our attention. Here is a succinct overview of some of their notable shortcomings:

1. August 2023 Electoral Defeat: The CCC, led by Nelson Chamisa, experienced a resounding defeat in local, parliamentary, and presidential elections in August. Their impact on the national political landscape was negligible. Nelson Chamisa not only lost the presidential race to ZanuPF's President E.D. Mnangagwa but also yielded the parliamentary majority to the ruling party. Without ZanuPF's consent, Chamisa and CCC cannot do anything meaningful in Zimbabwe because they simply do not have the people's mandate.

2. Leadership Challenges: Throughout the party's history since its inception in 1999, poor leadership has consistently afflicted the MDC/CCC. This issue became more pronounced in 2023, as Chamisa missed an opportunity to forge a united opposition movement. Instead, he opted to establish a personal fiefdom, assuming an all-powerful role for himself. Respected and sagacious political leaders within the opposition were marginalised, with figures like Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, and David Coltart sidelined, leaving room for inexperienced and fervent political amateurs like Gift Ostallos Siziva, Takudzwa Ngadziore, Thabani Mpofu, and Pashor Sibanda to exert disproportionate influence over party affairs. Chamisa's flawed leadership style and inadequate conflict resolution skills are poised to be the Achilles' heel of the opposition going forward.

3. Sengezo Tshabangu: The emergence of the influential figure, Sengezo Tshabangu, is closely linked to Nelson Chamisa's leadership shortcomings. Chamisa played a personal role in Tshabangu's ascent in two significant ways. Firstly, in his bid to ensure only his loyalists occupied parliamentary and local government positions, Chamisa appointed his close associate, Rashid Mahiya, to lead what he termed the Citizen's Independent Selection Panel (CISP). The CISP was marred by allegations of blatant corruption, nepotism, and favouritism, which generated discontent and paved the way for Sengezo Tshabangu's emergence as a corrective force. Secondly, Chamisa failed to submit the CCC constitution to the Speaker of Parliament and inform the same office about the authorised signatory and representative of the CCC for handling parliamentary affairs, an unprecedented oversight for a competently led political party. Tshabangu astutely exploited these leadership gaps to assume control of the party.

4. Communication and Public Relations Failures: The CCC's poor communication strategies resulted in a failure to articulate policies clearly and connect with a broader electorate. Under Chamisa's leadership, the CCC appeared to rely on a platform marred by blatant falsehoods, from the embarrassing debacle to the unfounded claim that SADC would intervene in a non-existent crisis, foolishly borrowed from Ibbo Mandaza. Consequently, numerous CCC supporters consistently voiced their dissatisfaction with Chamisa's leadership. Even long-time dedicated colleagues and supporters such as Hopewell Chin'ono, Fadzai Mahere, and Charlton Hwende eventually distanced themselves due to Chamisa's incoherent messaging and the absence of a clear and effective strategy. This has significantly eroded public trust in Chamisa.

5. Strategy Failures: In retrospect, the CCC's so-called "Strategic Ambiguity" was, in fact, a euphemism for a "Lack of Strategy." Under Nelson Chamisa's leadership, the CCC failed to develop a coherent strategy to confront ZanuPF in the 2023 election. Consequently, their actions were purely reactionary, driven solely by responses to ZanuPF's initiatives, without a guiding strategy.

6. Double-Dealing Leaders: A wide array of CCC leaders, including Nelson Chamisa himself, were deeply involved in working with and for ZanuPF in an effort to undermine each other within the CCC. Consequently, ZanuPF consistently had access to comprehensive information about the CCC's internal operations. For instance, it was the CCC leadership that openly hinted to ZanuPF about the plans of external powers to manipulate the election through protests. There is no conceivable way that a serious political party can seek assistance from a sworn enemy to undermine its own cause and still expect to overcome that very same enemy that is aiding in its self-destruction!

In conclusion, the CCC's struggles in 2023 were largely attributable to a deficiency in strong and capable leadership. Unless there is a drastic shift in the CCC's organisational structure and decision-making processes, the fortunes of both the CCC and Chamisa are likely to continue declining as we look ahead to 2024.

*Breaking: Chamisa Recalls Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume and 10 other councillors*

CCC leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa is set to recall Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume together with 10 other Councilors. A letter has already been sent to the Minister of Local Government Hon Chitando and was received yesterday.

“11 City of Harare Councilors including Jacob Mafume are being recalled by CCC president Nelson Chamisa.”

The names of 10 other Councilors are not as yet clear but will most likely include those who have voted for Jacob Mafume in open defiance to Chamisa's orders who wanted Ruzani instead during the Harare mayoral elections.

Efforts to contact Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume were fruitless as his mobile phones were not answered.

Zimbabwe's CCC in leadership crisis as Nelson Chamisa steps back

The political landscape of Zimbabwe is witnessing a ripple of turbulence as Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), reportedly steps back from active leadership. The step back is amidst escalating internal divisions and disagreements among senior CCC members, igniting concerns over a potential leadership vacuum within the party.

Leadership Vacuum and Internal Strife
The recent developments have led to the party operating seemingly on autopilot, with no clear leadership direction. The situation has been further complicated by the unauthorized use of Chamisa's image by aspiring Members of Parliament (MPs) endorsed by Sengezo Tshabangu, the former secretary general of the party. Tshabangu's actions have only served to intensify the discord within the party.

Threats of Drastic Measures

In response to the internal disagreement, Tshabangu has threatened to take drastic measures against rebellious legislators within the party. This move has further stoked the flames of discord and brought to the fore the intrigue and power tussles within the CCC.

Implications for CCC's Strategic Direction

The current leadership vacuum and internal strife could have far-reaching implications for CCC's strategic direction and operational efficiency. The ability of the party to present a united front and challenge the political status quo in Zimbabwe is now in question. The ongoing crisis also poses a significant challenge to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Presidency, especially considering the recent recalls of opposition CCC parliamentarians and councillors.

$220,8bn to improve irrigation schemes

AS part of a cocktail of measures to drought proof agriculture and guarantee food security at household and national levels Government has set aside $220.8 billion towards Irrigation rehabilitation to reduce reliance on rain-fed agriculture, which continues to be affected by climatic shocks.
About 350 000 hectares of cereals are expected to be put under irrigable land in order to produce 1, 8 million tonnes that are required for the country to become food self-sufficiency.
The Smallholder Irrigation Revitalisation Programme targets to rehabilitate 5 202 ha in order to enhance food security, including adaptation and mitigation of climate change shocks among smallholder farmers.
Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development permanent secretary Professor Obert Jiri said every inch of irrigable land must be put to the staple crop including maize and traditional grains adding that irrigation schemes must be prioritised this season to ensure that the country produces enough in the face of El Nino period.
“We can also climate proof through irrigation development to a larger scale. We also want more irrigation schemes. Out of the 416 irrigation schemes we have in the country about 331 were put under wheat which means that they are operational. If we fix them, we are looking at another 8 000 hectares. These are things which we can do this season to ensure that every inch of irrigable land is put to cereal crop production, that way we can climate-proof our agriculture to ensure food security,’’ he said.
In a recent interview farmers said irrigation schemes are critical to improve agricultural production adding that Government’s move to introduce the system is greatly appreciated.
They also said irrigation schemes constructed so far have turned the areas into green belts. One of the beneficiaries of Bubi- Lupane irrigation scheme, Mr Martin Hlongwane said the scheme has helped to transform subsistence agriculture at household level into commercial agriculture as part of rural development and industrialisation in line with vision 2030.
He said following the revitalisation of the scheme in 2021, they have started reaping the rewards of their labour.
“We are unemployed as a family, we struggled to make ends meet until the Government availed us of this opportunity. We are grateful we can now afford to send our children to school,” he said.
Another beneficiary Mrs Margaret Simango said through their efforts, they are contributing towards boosting the country’s food security.
“The irrigation scheme has enabled my family to be food secure. I am also glad that in my small way, I am also contributing to Zimbabwe’s food security,” she said.

*ACOUNTABILITY DEMANDED IN CCC AS ACCUSED CHAMISA OF HIDING MILLIONS*

Citizens Coalition for Change president, Nelson Chamisa has dismissed allegations raised by self-styled interim secretary general, Sengezo Tshabangu, that the party has not accounted for over US$2 million received from the European Union during the 2023 harmonised elections.

Tshabangu was speaking during the Asakhe Online program, The Breakfast Club recently and he said they will be sending a letter to Chamisa, demanding accountability for the alleged money.

Chamisa hit back stating that the party did not receive such funds from the EU.

“Integrity matters! We received no cent from the EU. And we are proud of the support from the Citizens particularly those in the diaspora. They have to this day, carried the burden to free our country from dictatorship!” read Chamisa’s post on his X account.

In his allegations, Tshabangu said a party account was opened without the knowledge of the appointed treasurer and this has created issues surrounding who received the funds and how they were used.

“The party already has an existing account, but there are criminals around the president who opened that account without the knowledge of the appointed treasurer. It’s a pseudo account. We had to appoint an acting treasurer in order to facilitate the opening of the account that we are now using,” Tshabangu said.

“The party fears accountability. We know for a fact that received money from the European Union, over US$2 million which was intended to pay the polling agents, food and other election-related amenities so that the election costs would be met. But up to date, our polling agents are not yet paid. We know that the money was disbursed but we do not know where it went. We are going to be writing to the president of the party soon, seeking accountability. We are putting the house in order. We need to establish who received the money and what it was used for. One of the recipients needs to account for that money.”

Speaking of how they have been managing to meet their litigation costs, Tshabangu said they are being assisted by various people who understand the cause they are pushing for.

“It is difficult for us to meet our litigation costs. Our legal team is headed by Advocate Uriri, one of the best lawyers to ever come out of Zimbabwe. He is very expensive. We sat down with him and he said he understood where I was coming from. He said he would get the ball rolling so that the people in general would know what’s going on and understand my cause. He did the first appearance free of charge,” Tshabangu said.

“After that, we started having people coming in to help us meet our legal costs. Some are from the business communities, people with huge amounts of money. They understood our cause and they gave us money to channel to our legal needs. We are accounting for each cent of that money.”

*Zimbabweans must focus on nation building: President Mnangagwa*

As the nation commemorates Unity Day this Friday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has implored Zimbabweans to close ranks and focus on nation building for the benefit of present and future generations.

On the 22nd of December in 1987, two political parties ZANU and PF ZAPU signed the Unity Accord, a day not merely a mark on the calendar, but a symbol of a nation’s resilience and commitment to harmony.

Thirty-six years later, Zimbabwe continues to commemorate the day, which shaped the political, social and economic landscape of the country.

In his Unity Day message, President Emmerson Mnangagwa reflected on the importance of the Unity Accord.

“The historic Unity Accord remains a guiding character of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe. Riding on this timeless heritage, we must accelerate the attainment of our shared national vision for inclusive development and a modernised, industrialised, prosperous and empowered society. I, therefore challenge us individually and collectively to use this important National Unity Day to re-commit ourselves to safeguarding, preserving and promoting our rich heritage for the benefit of both present and future generations. As we commemorate this National Unity Day, it is also critically important that we safeguard and advance our national interests,” said the President.

The Head of State said divisions, hatred and conflict among Zimbabweans should not be tolerated.

“Zimbabwe is a unitary state, with many cultures, languages and tribes, united under one national flag and national anthem. Our motherland is endowed with great wealth and resources, above and beneath our sacred soil. To fully exploit the opportunities before us for the benefit of all, we must close ranks and focus on nation building. The divide-and-rule tactics perpetrated during colonialism and being attempted by opportunistic neo-liberals must never be given a foothold in our country. United we stand, divided we fall. As such, let us all reject regionalism, tribalism, self-hate and all forms of violence. We have a duty and responsibility to work harder with honesty and integrity to utilise the vast opportunities that are before us. Increased production and productivity across all sectors of the economy remain our collective priority.”

President Mnangagwa added that his government will continue fostering peace and unity through the national healing process which is being led by traditional leaders under the mantra ‘leaving no one and no place behind’ in the country’s development agenda.

“Our nation is moving forward with hope and determination, crafting a brighter and more prosperous future for all Zimbabweans, leaving no-one and no community or place behind. The national healing process led by the traditional leadership has now been fully resources as indicated in our 2024 national budget.

Community-based programmes are set to commence next year with a broad array of interventions that will involve the affected individuals and families. Under the Second Republic, it is my pledge and commitment that development will be accelerated in those areas that suffered delayed progress as a result of disturbances. This is the only way to address the needs of these affected communities for genuine and sustainable broad-based and inclusive empowerment,” he noted.

With various major projects which include construction of new clinics countrywide, the New Parliament Building, the expansion of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and Hwange Thermal Power Station Unit 7 and 8 Expansion, among others, President Mnangagwa noted that increased production and productivity across all sectors of the economy remains his government’s priority.

*Chamisa Sparks Discord as Biti and Ncube Removed from Vital CCC WhatsApp Group*

In a surprising turn of events, Nelson Chamisa, one of the leaders of the Citizens for Change Coalition (CCC), has raised eyebrows by instructing the removal of his long-time allies, Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube, from the crucial WhatsApp group known as "Mugwazo." This move has left many within the party questioning Chamisa's leadership and intentions.

The Mugwazo group, initially formed to coordinate the mobilisation of rural voters ahead of the 23rd August 2023 elections, continued to function as a central hub for CCC coordination and internal discussions post-elections. It is from this platform that Chamisa decided to oust Biti and Ncube, two senior members who had been instrumental in the party's foundation.

Critics argue that Chamisa's decision to remove Biti and Ncube from this pivotal platform is a betrayal of trust and a testament to his unquenchable thirst for power. This action reflects a lack of respect and transparency within the party's leadership.

Chamisa's alleged history of betrayals doesn't stop at Biti and Ncube. Job Sikhala, another prominent CCC member, was allegedly abandoned by Chamisa after being encouraged to incite violence during a previous period of political turmoil. When Sikhala faced legal consequences for his actions, Chamisa purportedly distanced himself, leaving Sikhala and his family to deal with the aftermath.

This pattern of behaviour has led some to label Chamisa as a heartless and self-centred leader, prioritising his own political survival over the welfare of his colleagues and the party's unity.

The internal strife within the CCC has raised concerns about the party's stability and unity. Biti, Ncube, and Sikhala, all founding members of the CCC and its predecessor, the MDC, have a history of forming their own political parties when disagreements arise. This has led to speculation that the CCC may be on the verge of a split, with the trio potentially pursuing their individual political agendas.

What adds to the bitterness of the situation is that Biti, Ncube, and Sikhala are seen as mentors who nurtured Chamisa's political career. Their disillusionment at his recent actions has left many scratching their heads at the apparent betrayal.

Furthermore, Amos Chibaya, the CCC National Organising Secretary and a long-time friend of the trio, has been accused of collaborating with Chamisa to push them aside. Chibaya's role as a trusted confidant of Chamisa has led some to view him as a personal weapon wielded by the leader to eliminate perceived threats within the party.

This internal discord within the CCC comes at a time when ZANU PF is gaining strength as recent by-elections saw ZANU PF making significant inroads into CCC strongholds, winning seven out of nine possible constituencies. ZANU PF legislators from other provinces actively supported their party's candidates outside their respective regions, demonstrating a unified front that has attracted attention.

ZANU PF's professionalism, unity, and clear policies have lured several opposition members, exacerbating the CCC's woes. With the CCC facing internal strife and a resurgent ZANU PF, the political landscape in Zimbabwe remains uncertain, and the future of the CCC hangs in the balance.
