By Sports Correspondent
The 2024 Bulawayo Social Soccer League (BSSL) season has kicked off with high expectations from Emakhandeni Luveve Constituency Sports teams affiliated to the league.
The four teams from Emakhandeni Luveve Constituency are Emakhandeni United, Luveve, Cream Tata and Gwabalanda.
In their season openers Gwabalanda was humiliated 0-9 at home by Khami while Emakhandeni United drew 2-2 with Cowdray Masters. Cream Tata, on the other hand collected maximum points beating Iminyela Timers 1-0 at home while Luveve also beat Real Magwegwe 2-0.
Commenting the results, the Emakhandeni Luveve Constituency MP Hon Discent Collins Bajila said "This is a promising start of the season. Out of a possible total of 12 points that should have come home, our teams collectively brought 7 points. Gwabalanda are encouraged to boost their defense to prevent such humiliating losses while the rest of the teams should maintain their defense and increase their attacks in order to increase their win margins."
Luveve, Emakhandeni United and Cream Tata qualified for the finals of the Emakhandeni Luveve Sports Challenge set for 21 February 2023. They will be joined by Modulisa FC from New Lobhengula.
The Emakhandeni Luveve Sports Challenge is a community development initiative of Hon Bajila. The 21 February event will see a total of thirteen (13) teams drawn from soccer, netball, men's netball and tennis battle for silverware in their respective disciplines.
Numerous companies and service providers have confirmed that they will exhibit at this event.
"The tournament coordinator has indicated that a number of exhibitors drawn from business, government departments and civil society will be present. This is an event for everyone and we invite the whole community to attend", Hon Bajila added.
