Kuseniseni: I'm a lady aged 28 my cousin is 30, she is married to a man aged 40, they have been married for 5 years with one child. We grew up together, my cousin is one of those that are intelligent and goal oriented. We went to college together and she did way better than me, she started working before me. When she got married, the husband told her to stop working, according to her he was paying her equivalent to what she was getting paid. He told her he never wanted to see his beautiful wife working. He is a successful businessman, when I inquired why she stopped working she told me not to worry. After she gave birth, he started changing in the way he treated her. Sometimes he will just leave home for days without saying anything to her and when she asks he just say he went for a business trip, he told her sometimes I don't have to tell you when I'm going out. He recently started beating her and she was always making excuses for him. I don't recognize my cousin anymore, we have tried to help as a family, and it has backfired on us several times. My family seems to have given up on her, because she is not willing to listen. She blames herself every time he does something bad to her. I'm afraid someone will be killed in that house, I really want to help her. Anyone who has experienced this kind of situation please help me, help my lovely cousin.
Please help me.

PRESS STATEMENT
MURDER INCIDENT IN GARDEN COMPOUND

January 14, 2025-The Zambia Police Service through Garden Police Post is investigating a shocking case of murder reported today, January 14, 2025, at approximately 16:30 hours.

The report was lodged by Mr. Emmanuel Kalaba, aged 55, of House Number 1295 Chelstone Extension, who informed the police that his young brother’s wife, Mrs. Sylvia Mutoba Kalaba, had consistently refused him and other family members access to his younger brother, Mr. George Kalaba, on multiple occasions between July 2023 and January 2025.

According to Mr. Kalaba, his concerns escalated when he visited the residence at approximately 06:00 hours this morning. Upon arrival, he found the house locked, with Mrs. Sylvia Kalaba and her children inside. He further interviewed the one of tenants, who revealed that he had not seen Mr. George Kalaba for the past two years and that Mrs. Sylvia Kalaba had been preventing anyone from visiting him.

Acting on this report, police officers rushed to the scene. Upon gaining entry, they made a gruesome discovery: the remains of Mr. George Kalaba were found lying on a bed, reduced to a skeleton, suggesting he had been dead for a significant period.

Mrs. Sylvia Kalaba, aged 51, and her children, identified as Natasha Kalaba (19), Sandra Kalaba (22), Wendi Kalaba (27), and a female juvenile (15), were found inside the house and had locked themselves in. They have since been apprehended and are in custody to assist with investigations.

The skeletal remains of Mr. George Kalaba have been collected and deposited at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) Mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted tomorrow, January 15, 2025, to ascertain the cause of death.

A docket of case has been opened, and investigations are ongoing

Kuseniseni: I'm a man aged 38 my wife is 36 we have been married for 10 years with 3 children. When we got married my wife was not working and I was working. I made sure my wife starts working through my friends and connections. When she started working, she was getting more money than I was. She started acting up 5 months after she started working. I got pi**ed off because cooking has become a problem, I have to ask always ask her to prepare food for me. We had a meeting and discussed it with some family members. She told them, she will employ a maid to start helping. She said money is supposed to make it easy and find help instead of pushing myself hard. She has lost respect for me, she speaks to me anyhow she likes. I started a side business that's giving me another income and it's working very well. I have never told her about it, we have never had a normal conversation has husband and wife. Our children are getting affected with everything that is going on with us.

Kuseniseni: I'm a lady aged 30 my husband is 35 we have been married for 5 years with 2 Children. I was working when we got married but my husband persuaded me to stop working. I accepted because my job was too demanding and my husband assured me everything will be fine, he promised he will manage to take care of us. The doctors also told me my pregnancy is delicate, I needed to rest a lot. Everything was going on well until now, my husband reduced the money he was giving me despite his salary being raised 3 times. When I ask him, he told me, I should learn how to manage with what is given. He told me I'm too lazy and too dependant. At this point I started applying for employment, I never told him anything. Most of the time when I told my husband to make budgets with him he refused. I decided to write everything we needed and give it to him to buy, he told me I disrespected him. He called for the meeting, I told them why I did that. I was told not to do that again and he was told to chose his words properly. He never changed, he continued abusing me with his words. I was called to one of the companies o applied to. My husband doesn't want me to accept the job. Some families are decided, some wants me to do and others don't think accepting the job is a wise decision. He called for a meeting this week and I'm expected next week.
Please help me.

Kuseniseni: I'm a lady aged 32 with a 5 year old child. I was married for 2 years when I was 25, but my husband died a sudden death. He left me with a 1 year old child who's now 5 years old. I've been alone for most parts of these years. I met a man last year, he's 34 years old and never been married before and doesn't have any children. We started dating and he accepted me together with my child. Late last year he proposed to me and wants to marry me. The problem is that some of my family members are discouraging me saying it will be like disrespecting my late husband's family. My mother is in support of me getting married because she believes I'm still young and I can't spend the rest of my life alone. This man is just waiting for my word in order for him to proceed with everything. I'm confused, I don't know what to do. Should I listen to my mother and just get married or do I listen to what my other family members are saying? Will it be ok if I could ask for permission from my mother-in-law? This man's family has accepted and are happy that their son is with me. Please help me.

Kuseniseni : I'm a man aged 33, I divorced with my wife 2 years ago, i had one child with my ex wife. When we divorced I couldn't take the child with me because the child is young and needs to be in the presence of the mother. My wife filed for divorce because according to her she didn't love me anymore. Her parents did not approve of her decision, they told her whatever happens she is on her own. Some few months after divorce she moved in with someone else. The man told her not to allow me to see the child. He made sure of that by not allowing her to get anything for the child from me. The man left her after staying with her for over a year. The parents tried to get the child from her but she refused and blamed them for the situation she is going through. She said all she needed from them is support in any decision she was making. Her parents called me to get the child away from her because the environment is not conducive for him. I'm keeping two of my young sisters who can take care of him and I'm ready to hire someone to take care of him if my two sisters are not enough. How do I go about this without fighting with her?

Kuseniseni : I'm a single mother aged 28, I'm working and doing a bit of business. I got pregnant as soon as I completed grade 12, the man who was responsible for my pregnancy never wanted to have anything to do with it. He denied it and said he never wanted to hear anything to do with me and the pregnancy. I was devastated, I didn't know what to do but my parents encouraged me to be strong. They helped me through out the pregnancy and when my child was born they took care of him. I went to college completed and started working. My child has started asking about his father, and I don't know what to tell him. Some friends are saying if you tell him his father denied him he will be devastated and it will affect him negatively. Others are saying I should tell him that his father died. I would like to hear from you here, what should I tell him? I don't even know where the father is, I stopped communicating with him the time he denied responsibility.
