ZESCO STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT TOUR TO KARIBA NORTH BANK

Power utility company, ZESCO has revealed
that load-shedding is likely to reduce by
July as Zambezi River Authority revises and
possibly adjusts water allocations in
response to the rising reservoir levels.
Speaking during a stake holders engagement
tour to kariba North, ZESCO Senior Station
Manager Engineer Christopher Singogo noted
that steady rising water levels at Kariba

Dam, could lead to better electricity
generation in the coming months.
During the first quarter of 2025, ZESCO
used 3.3 billion cubic meters of water from
its 13.5 billion cubic meter allocation
provided by the Zambezi River Authority
(ZRA), representing 27% of its total
allowance.
Engineer Singogo announced that water
levels have been steadily increasing noting
that the lake’s level rose from 475.77
meters above sea level at the end of 2024
to 477.96 meters on May 18, 2025, showing a
2.19-meter gain due to stronger inflows
from the Zambezi River.

HIGH COURT

A 43 year old Chilanga woman Meya Masumba
charged with the murder of her husband has
been committed to the high court for
summary trial.
This is after she applied for herbus
corpus, appealing to the court to have her
matter heard as she had stayed in police
detention for over two years without
appearing before court for trial since she
was arrested in 2023.

Allegations in this matter are that Masumba
and her co-accused Florence Banda on 23
August, 2023 jointly and whilst working
together murdered Francisco Miti.
Mega further alleged that she was r***d by
a police officer based at Chilanga police
station while she was in detention after
her arrest and has asked the court to order
the police command in Lusaka province to
institute a parade so she can identify the
said officer who r***d her.
Granting her the herbus corpus, Lusaka
magistrate Kigan Litiya read out the charge
to Meya and her co-accused and then
committed them to the high court.

COMMUNITY ACTION AGAINST CORRUPTION

The Community Action Against Corruption has
challenged the Anti-Corruption Commission
to take serious interest in Investigating
alleged corruption, nepotism and political
patronage in the Administration and
appropriation of Constituency Development
Fund (CDF).
Speaking in an interview with Prime TV
News, Organisation Chief Executive Officer
Brightone Tembo says complaints about
systematic corruption in the handling and
distribution of CDF are all over but
wonders why the Commission and other
agencies have not taken action to
investigate.
Mr. Tembo has however noted that the ACC& #39;s
selective and reactive approach to address
some of the concerns has led to many
Zambians failing to benefit from the much
needed resources while those abusing the
funds are left to make it more difficult to
access the funds.
Prime TV News also talked to some
beneficiaries who have called for robust
sensitization, reduced bureaucracy and
translation of information regarding CDF
for all beneficiaries to understand and
easily access the funds.

His family told him they will stop helping us if he refuses to divorce me. He gave into the pressure and left me and the kids. Things are going very well with me and my kids all thanks to my family. My husband never checked on us from the time he left to stay at the his parents property. He has just came back asking for forgiveness and he wants us to get back. My sister who took care of me and my children told me to forgive him, she said he is my husband, he made a mistake.
