CHANGE JOBS EVERY 2 to 3 YEARS
THE EMPLOYEE WHO IS OLDER THAN THE TREES AT WORK
There some people who have worked for a company for 10 years but the next new hire comes in and gets paid more than them . They are loyal and hard working but the employer doesn’t seem to notice or appreciate their loyalty . They have been in the same position for years but do not understand other function responsibilities . They seem tired and unmotivated . Do let this be you
3 YEARS IS A LONG TIME
I am telling you that you have to change jobs or roles every 2 to 3 Years , In order to grow professional profile and portfolio . Now some people itching to argue with me , please finnish reading the article . In most professions you need to work for atleast 3 years to become a certified member of your professional body . 3 yrs ! , Most courses at school take 3 yrs to complete , Jesus preached for 3 years . Now you , you want to be Assistant Accountant for 15 years , that is 5 times the time it took you to complete your Accounting Course . For those who think am being aggressive to changing jobs every three years, that is changing jobs 3 times every decade so how is that a lot ?
You see in the first year of the job you are learning , Second year of the job you are applying yourself , Third year in a job you have reached mastery level , there is nothing that is worth knowing that you don’t know at this time.
DO IT FOR THE MONEY!
Employers increase salaries by 5 to 10% every year to adjust for inflation, If you perform well in the role they even add another 20% . That is not a lot considering you are paid a fixed rate and your contribution is not proportional to the compensation. The only way to get a 40%to 60% increase in your salary is by changing jobs . Especially if you have observed that through the 3 years you served the company, they have just been adding 5% , meanwhile the inflation is in the roof .
GO WHERE YOU ARE CELEBRATED NOT TOLERATED
Some employers are used to seeing you as a slave , They just cant see you being a manager at their company . I mean the brought you in when you didn’t know anything , They taught you how to work and now you are saying you want a raise ??? They are like please !! You want to be a manager here !!!??? you same one I taught how to write an email ?? Please . So their image of you is that of a slave , if they havent promoted you in 3 years , its time to bounce ! Or else you will get paid the same salary for the rest of your life
DO IT FOR A REFRESHING EXPERIENCE
Outside Money , Changing jobs is good for your career in the sense that it is refreshing to your soul . Jobs can be monotonous. a job change brings new challenges , new learning , new skills that increase your capacity to even earn more money . You will meet new people and probably also live in a new town making work more enjoyable.
( note: always apply upwards, never downwards )
