1. If you want to overcome temptation; you need to know that temptation has a limit.

2. God is like a good examiner;He does not test you outside the curriculum.

3. If we keep failing the test, we are still going to write it and failing a test is tantamount to testing God; because He has given you the Capacity to Overcome.

4. Never find a reason to think that the hardship you are going through is too much.

5. We must learn to be alert and sober minded.

6. When you see the devil bringing certain things; then just know that is the area of your weakness ,so work on that area.(1Peter 5:8).

Topic: The words Temptation and Test!
P/Text: Genesis 3:1-7; James 1:13- 15 & 1 Corinthians 10: 13

Learning Points!!
==============

1. Genesis 3:1- 7 describes a temptation scenario temptation but does not use the word temptation itself .

2.James recognizes the tempter and indicates the process of temptation: Further states that God can never be tempted and He never tempts (even when He knows good and evil).
Yet man can tempt and be tempted (especially after attaining the knowledge of good and evil) - James 1:13- 15.

*God does not tempt, He tests (Genesis 22) BUT Satan does tempt.

*Temptation is meant to expose our evil desires causing God's disapproval of us, while a test is meant to expose our good desires causing God's approval of us.

3. All kinds of temptations are common ALL men regardless of the degree of the temptation - so you have no justification to see yourself as unique victim.
God has bestowed upon us the ability to overcome any kind of temptation that may come our way.( 1 Corinthians 10:13)

*When temptation strikes turn to God(His word, love, your relationship with God - consider the Genesis 3 temptation account and note: In the process of temptation Satan wants you DOUBT (or overlook, or reject):
A. The word of God - doubt either the source or the truth of the word or both.
B. The judgment of God - either the reality or justice of the judgment or both.
C. The Character of God - either God's love or honesty or both
This is what Adam and Eve. Both had what was needed to pass the test God gave them but they deliberately yield to the temptation Satan designed it to be.

4. The devil brings something your heart desires and what your intellect(mind) and body yearns and craves for. Therefore temptation is three fold:
1.Spirit
2. Body
3. Soul

*This was the case with Jesus when He was tempted in the book of Matthew. Note: The first Adam was tempted in like manner like the second and last Adam.


The terms temptation and test are totally different in terms of meaning, initiator and end goal)

makes or leads you to stumble and sin and brings disapproval.( Satan is involved)

is something that reveals your heart and brings approval; an example is the case of Abraham and Isaac. (God is involved).

We declare that we are victorious and unstoppable over temptation in Jesus Name!
God cannot fail us because He does not tempt us; Satan and his agents cannot defeat us with any temptation because he has been defeated; only we/you can spell our/your defeat by willing permitting the temptation - Satan's exploitation of our desires.

Whatever challenge you face in your Christian walk is a temptation to Satan but a test to God. So treat as a test and work a solution using the resources God has provided

Three Ways to Manage Trouble in our Present Age
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.We manage prayer through prayer(vs 1,crying out in the said verse means prayer); Prayer in this regard can be loud or silent like hannah. Often times the kind of prayer we prayer depends on the nature of the trouble at hand.(1Samuel 30:1-19)

2. Through Seeking God(Mathew 7:7, 2Chronicles 7:11-14, Psalm 34:4).

3. Through Persistent Prayer; This is not an ordinary schedule of prayer but its a prayer beyond time and space. Be persistent and devoted to prayer.Do not give up one day this will turn around.

Key: Prayer changes situations provided fervent prayer is offered, a good Biblical example in the area of prayer is Daniel.

S/ Citation: John 15:1-12

Key points

Note: The fruits in the context refer to the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5 :22)

1. Jesus called us branches of the vine.

2.No connected branch to the vine bears fruits.

3.Church attendance without connectivity to the true vine(Jesus Christ) is baseless and futile.

4. Jesus Christ is the function of fruitfulness that's why we are encouraged to remain and stay in Him; without which nothing can move-in our favour.

5. A branch that is in Christ Jesus is never shaken by any wind because Christ rises to the occasion for such a branch.

6.A believe can only manifest the fruits of the spirit if and only if they are connected to Jesus Christ.

Points of reflection

"Remember we shall be known by our fruits, this tells us the neccesity of our connectivity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; Stay glued to His word and be fruitful ".
