UPDATE ON THE CHINGOLA UNDERGROUND TRAPPED MINERS

As reported earlier regarding the more than 40 miners who were trapped in chingola at an underground/open pit in yesterday as a result of heavy rains. We can now confirm that the total number of trapped bodies is not yet known. The number is suspected to be more that the 40 earlier indicated. Sadly over there is fear that 30 people have died though still not confirmed as rescue efforts are still underway ....More details coming...

30 MINERS TRAPPED UNDER AFTER MINE COLLAPSE IN CHINGOLA

Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu has told Parliament that the trapped miners are now under the rubble and rescuers are struggling to retrieve them.
Mr Mwiimbu has since asked citizens to commit the trapped miners in prayers.
The Minister has however not named the mine where the miners are trapped.

KAMBWILI GOES TO PRISON OVER HATE SPEECH

Dr Chishimba Kambwili has been convicted by the court to prison for 5 months for hate speech during one of his campaign interview with a known radio station

Particulars of the offense are that on dates unknown, but between July 21 and August 8, 2021 in Kasama District of Northern Province, the 54-year-old politician allegedly willfully and unlawfully did express words of hatred and ridicule against the Tonga people, because of their tribe and origin and encouraged regional voting.

Dr Kambwili has however expressed that he will pettion his conviction and Dr Kambwili has since been transportated to prison as of business day today.

THREE PUPILS PERISH IN AN ACCIDENT
... after the driver of a vehicle lost control due to excessive speed and hit into five pedestrians

September 13, 2023

FOUR people died while one survived with injuries in a Road Traffic Accident which occured today at 06:30 hours in Ibex Hill area in Lusaka.

Among the people who have been confirmed dead are three school going children identified as James Phiri aged 13, Felix Mwansa aged 14 and Richard Mapulanga aged 15 all pupil at Family Legacy School located in Ibex Hill area.

The other deceased male adult person has not yet been identified while the injured victim has been identified as Samson Ngoma aged 13 also a pupil at Family Legacy School.

He was rushed to the University Teaching Hospitals where he is receiving treatment.

Police investigations indicate that the accident occurred when the driver of a Toyota Camry bearing registration number BAL 5830 lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and hit into five pedestrians who were walking off the road in the opposite direction near Saint Agnes Health Clinic. The vehicle only rested after overturning upside down.

The driver, identified as Mulemwa Akamani aged 26 of Woodlands sustained minor injuries. He was treated at the same clinic and later discharged. He has been detained in Police custody yet to be charged.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in UTH mortuary waiting for formal identification and postmortem.

The motor vehicle is extensively damaged.

Police round up trio robbery, murder case at Parliament Road construction site

IN a significant breakthrough, the police have arrested have managed to apprehend the three suspects connected to the murder and robbery that occurred at the construction site along Parliament Road on Wednesday.

The latest arrest was of Getias Muleya, aged 29, hailing from the old N'gombe compound in Lusaka.

He was apprehended in connection with the heinous crime and was found in possession of 400 Chinese Yuan and a cellular phone.

Muleya joins two previously detained suspects, Munji Mauma and Benson Chanda.

Chanda, aged 23, from Chipata compound was apprehended yesterday after he was found with safety boots believed to have been stolen from the construction.

The initial incident involved the murder of 23-year-old security guard Charles Phiri, who was on duty at the B and B Hotel construction site.

The suspects also robbed a Chinese national, Wang Hong Xing, a site watchman, of significant amounts of cash, including K2,000, $150 USD, 700 Yuan, and two cellular phones.

The police were alerted to the scene, where they discovered the security guard, Charles Phiri, unconscious and bound on the second floor of the building with a wire around his legs and a cloth around his neck.

Phir was pronounced dead upon arrival at Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital.

Following the incident, the Chinese national, Wang was able to identify one of the suspects as a former worker at the same construction site, leading to the arrest of Munji Mauma and the recovery of one of the stolen mobile phones.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny confirmed the arrest of the three suspects today.

Mwale said the trio is currently detained in police custody as they await formal charges while The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

NEWLY INDUCTED NURSE MURDED, PARTS MISSING IN IBADAN, OYO STATE

The lifeless body of a young nurse was found with her womb missing after a night out in Ibadan.

The nurse, named Omoniyi Boluwatife, was discovered deceased and removed by the authorities in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Boluwatife, who graduated from Lead City University, had recently been inducted into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, as per reports.

She had apparently gone to celebrate her recent induction into the nursing profession at a nightclub on Tuesday night before her unfortunate demise.

A viral video displayed Boluwatife's body lying on the ground.

The club she visited, Copacabana, refuted claims that the incident occurred on their premises, asserting that they wouldn't take responsibility for events outside their establishment.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Oyo State, Superintendent Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the launch of an investigation into the incident and assured that updates will be provided accordingly.

Update On The Kazungula Murder
Simfukwe who is allegedly to have stabbed his wife Beverly to death has been apprehended and is in police custody at the Kazungula Police Station right now.

Brief facts as reported ealier on the matter are that, after a marital dispute last night, simfukwe stabbed Beverly twice and fled the scene leaving her in a pool of blood. Concerned neighbours rushed to the scene and managed to take her to the hospital but unfortunately she died in the early hours of the morning.

Killers gouge out eyes of Lusaka Yango driver

CRIMINALS in Lusaka have gruesomely killed a taxi driver and gouged out his eyes.

Nicholas Chishimba aged 38 of Lusaka's Libala South was discovered lifeless trapped between a car and a wall fence in Kabwata Site and Service around 06:30 yesterday.

His body bore multiple injuries.

According to reports, the grim discovery was made by a 65-year-old resident in the neighborhood.

Police have confirmed the matter also saying Chishimba was found trapped between a motor a Toyota Sienta, and a wall fence.

Police officers who quickly arrived at the scene noticed the injuries and the leading investigators suspect that sharp instruments had been used in the act.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was operating as a YANGO driver, and it is believed that he was attacked by unknown individuals," added Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale.

The circumstances surrounding Chishimba's death raise concerns about the safety of ride-hailing drivers in the area.

The incident sheds light on the potential risks that drivers face while providing their services, especially during the early hours of the morning.

Mwale, confirmed that investigations into the killing have been instituted.

Vietnamese expatriate goes missing in Kitwe

EMPLOYEES of Shimuzi Corporation on the Copperbelt are sweating to solve a puzzle involving the disappearance of one of their co-workers who worked as an expatriate electrician.

Barely five months in the country, 26-year old Huynh Phuoc Thein who was part of the team working on upgrading Chamboli Level One Hospital simply vanished.

Thein disappeared on Sunday August 21, leaving behind his personal belongings including his passport in M&M Apartments in Parklands area of Kitwe where he was residing.

Concerned about his safety, Thein's co-work, Simon Banda has reached out to the public to help locate him.

Banda told Kalemba that relentless efforts to find Thein from the time he went missing have so far yielded nothing.

Two bodies where discovered this morning in Mufulira (Kankoyo Township) where a young man only identified as Peter and a girl identified as Cloe where found dead in the Bush.

Peter was discovered hanging from a tree while the lifeless body of cloe was found a few metres away from where Peter was hanging. It is not yet clear as to what exactly happened as investigations are underway.

Mumbwa gardenboy kills boss over K700 salary

A MAN of Mumbwa district in Central Province has paid with his life the price of a disputed salary argument with his gardendoy.

According to Central Province Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charity Chanda, the deceased was repeatedly hacked in the back of his head and shoulder using a machete.

She explained that the gardenboy went demand his K700 salary but resorted to butchering his employer when they two failed to agree.

Chanda said following the killing, the gardenboy took to his heels and vanished but a manhunt had been instituted.

A BODY FOUND IN GARDEN COMPOUND

Residents of Lusaka’s Garden compound today woke up to a rude shock when one of their own was discovered dead outside one of the houses in the neighborhood.

The deceased has been identified as 32 year old Japheth Lungu of Garden Compound. He was discovered by a resident around 06:30 hours today with a cut and some spilt blood. A big stone believed to have been used to knock him out of consciousness was found near his lifeless body.

The residents are appealing to the area councilor to lobby for installation of street lights and the police to conduct routine patrols in the area to ensure the safety and security of residents.

Meanwhile, ngwerere ward 22 councilor Adrian Banda says the police are doing thoroughly investigations to make sure that the culprits behind the scene are brought to book. Mr Banda has also appealed to members of garden compound to refrain from moving during late night hours as criminals tend to take advantage.
This latest sad incident surely calls for concerted efforts between citizens, civic leaders and police to help bring them to an end.

MANSA BISHOP ARRESTED FOR R**E

26th September, 2022-Police in Mansa have charged and arrested Bishop John Mwelwa aged 37 of Healing Cross Ministries Church for two offences of R**e Contrary to Section 132 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 and Defilement Contrary to Section 138 Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Brief facts of the alleged R**e case are that the victim aged 17 had persistent abdominal pains and her parents took her to Bishop John Mwelwa who prophesied that she had cotton in her abdomen and the bishop gave her an appointment to see him on September18,2022 around 10:00 hours. When the parents took her there, on the material day the 18th September, 2022 the Bishop demanded that the Victim should go alone with him so that he can go and remove the cotton.

On September 19, 2022 around 13:00 hours the victim went to the Bishop who asked her to embark in his vehicle and he took her to a named lodge where the bishop is accused of having r***d her when he inserted his manhood in her private part as a way of removing the cotton from the abdomen which the Bishop had earlier prophesied. She sustained painful private part and abdominal pains.

With regards to the defilement case brief facts are that the Bishop was approached by a parent of a Female Juvenile aged 15 who had a condition of having milk coming out of her breast on an unknown date on a Sunday in March, 2022 at Healing Cross Ministries Church. The Bishop requested the victim to come on a Monday the following day where he told her that she had cotton wool in her stomach which needed to be removed. He later on gave her anointing oil to drink.

The Bishop then drove to a named lodge where he booked a room and applied anointing oil on her private parts and breast whilst purportedly removing the cotton. He informed the victim that the cotton was still remaining and asked her if she could go and have it removed within fifteen minutes by way of having canal knowledge with her boyfriend if she had one.

YANGO DRIVER ATTACHED LOCKED INSIDE HIS CAR TRUNK

Brief facts of the matter are the the YANGO driver was booked by unknown men for the driver to take them to garden house. Along the way the men attached the driver and took his money.
The driver was found this morning by residents of chazanga who head someone shouting inside a trunk of a car.
Investigation into the matter are still under by the police to bringing to book the culprits.

There has been a terrible road accident at Airport roundabout in Lusaka. Information at hand indicate that a loaded truck and trailer failed to negotiate a turn at the roundabout and slammed into a Toyota Hilux forcing it to go underneath the truck.

Sadly the driver of the Toyota Hilux died on the spot.

Just received sad news I consider an abomination.This 76 year old woman was found lying in pain by the neighbors after they realized that in the morning she did not come out to sit on her usual sit outside her house.

The neighbors went to her house and found her lying in pain and blood.She narrated that 4 boys aged around 20-24 years broke her door around 22 hours and they took turns in ra**ng her.They then took a wooden chair and hit her several times.They walked away with her 6 sacks of maize that she removed from her small garden and some relish.They also took her mattress and small a radio.She is extremely traumatized and has been crying periodically.

Most of the boys who do such have a history of sexual abuse and with the rampant So**my most boys are extremely broken.

PRESS STATEMENT
Lusaka, Friday, 19th August 2022.

FORMER DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL OF ZAMBIA POLICE SERVICE CHARITY KATANGA ARRESTED.

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) through its Anti-Money Laundering Investigations Unit (AMLIU) has arrested a former Deputy Inspector General of Police for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Charity Masambo Katanga, aged 45, of Plot Number 401a/611 in Makeni, has been arrested for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime valued at Two Million and Thirty Thousand United States Dollars (USD 2, 030, 000.00) and One Million, Five Hundred Twenty two Thousand and Five Kwacha (1, 522, 005.00) contrary to Section 71 of the Forfeiture and Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010 of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that Charity Masambo Katanga jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, on dates unknown but between 1st January, 2017 and 6th June, 2022 in Lusaka Province, did buy 10 Higer Buses at the purchase price of USD 203,000.00 each using funds reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

The Commission has seized the buses and also cash in her company bank account in the sum of One Million Five Hundred Twenty Two Thousand and Five Kwacha (1, 522, 005.00), money reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

The suspect is on Police bond and will appear in court soon.
