HH DATES 116th ZNFU ANNUAL CONGRESS
President Hakainde Hichilema has challenged farmers to increase production and productivity to take advantage of the yawning market opportunities so far solicited, especially in the light of the looming global food crisis due to many factors.
President Hichilema has also urged farmers to treat agriculture as a business by not concentrating on one activity such as maize, but venture into other areas such as fish, livestock and edible fruits.
The president has Further challenged farmers to invest in value addition technologies for them and the country to yield more benefits in the entire value chain from crops to finished products and create more jobs.
The president said this in light of the 116th Zambia National Farmers Union Annual Congress held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka under the theme "Stimulating a Resilient Agriculture Sector" where he was invited to officiate the event.
President Hichilema says he was encouraged with the quality of exchange of ideas and the renewed enthusiasm farmers have shown towards the improvement of the sector.
