KAMAKONDE SCHOOL PROJECT TAKING SHAPE.

Works on the 1 x 5 block of classroom at Kamakonde Primary school have resumed and during our tour of duty this afternoon we found the contractor busy on site to ensure they finish the roofing.
The contractor has assured us that he has bought all the materials necessary for finishes to the project.

Note the the project stalled because of the misunderstanding over the materials that were used for the roof trasses and the contractor has since made the necessary amends and the project is on.

This project is being financed using the 2022 CDF funds and once completed will add 5 more classrooms to the only four classes that currently makes up this school.

We have emphasized on the need for speedy works while observing the need to have quality works done.

THE FILM INDUSTRY CAN BE JUMPSTARTED THROUGH A FILM FUND.

Yesterday i met representatives of the copperbelt based film makers to discuss how we could help jump start the film industry.
It is important to appreciate that the film industry is a significant industry in addressing a number of national interest such as employment and wealth creation as well the promotion and preservation of our culture and tourism.

During our meeting yesterday with the film makers among them was the legendary Mr.Bob Nkosha,we discussed the need for government to step in and set aside a film fund that can be accessed by content producers to produce films that will help tell the Zambian stories that have never been told through films.Can you imagine telling stories of The Kavalamanja war,Lenshina,Mushala and Saimbwende,the attempted coup d'etats of Capt Solo and Mwamba Luchembe,the Kaunda story,Zambia's role in the independence of neighboring countries, the Story of Mposa mabwe which birthed the youth day celebrations can you imagine a movie on Jerabos,a political story of the charismatic FTJ let alone Michael Sata....

We can all agree that Zambia has so many stories that can be sold all over the world but because of luck of support to the industry ,the film makers have been unable to tell theses stories through films and so the answer to unlocking the potential of the Zambian film industry whose productions have already gone beyond our borders through productions like Mpali and Zuba even with no help at all,is to create a film fund.

We have agreed therefore that when parliament resumes its sitting next week my first task will be to seek the permission of the speaker to allow me to move a motion to urge government to step in and unlock the potential of the film industry through a Film Fund.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT IS KEY IN ADDRESSING THE RISING THE LEVELS OF UNEMPLOYMENT.

This week i met a group of upcoming Music promoters from within Nkana constituency with a view to discuss how we could work together develop talent in Nkana constituency.

I empasised the need for us to work together in addressing the challenges that talented young people in the music and dance industry are facing in realizing their potential.

We have therefore agreed to have a gathering of Music and dance artists next coming saturday to create a road map on how we will help develop talent among the young people of Nkana.
We are therefore invititing all the young people who are into music to come and attend this meeting next Saturday.

CHIBULUMA ROAD UPDATE.

YESTERDAY HON MILUPI MINISTER OF INFRASTRUCTURE INFORMED ME THAT THE CONTRACTOR TO DO A CONCRETE ROAD ON CHIBULUMA ROAD HAS BEEN PICKED AND THAT THE CONTRACT IS NOW WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AWAITING HIS SIGNATURE.

THE MINISTER FURTHER INFORMED ME THAT WHEN THE AG SIGNS, THE CONTRACTOR IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ON SITE IMMEDIATELY.

LET US PRAY FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO QUICKLY SIGN THIS CONTRACT BEFORE THE RAINS BECOMES AN EXCUSE .I COULD NOT GET HOLD OF THE AG AS HIS PHONES WENT UNANSWERED.

KITWE CITY COUNCIL SHOULD STOP AND REVERSE THE ALLOCATION OF PLOTS AT KCH MORTUARY AS WELL AS CHANGE PLANS OF A BUS STOP AT MICMAR.

Yesterday we took time to go on the ground to verify the reports that the Kitwe Central Hospital Mortuary and true the reports we found that people have already started digging foundations for erections of Shop against the desire of both the traders and the general public.

We further confirmed that a bust stop is been put up along Independence avenue opposite Micmar against the will of the resisdents of the area.

My take as member of parliament is that development must not be forced on people and it is clear that the two projects are against the wishes of the people and therefore proceeding would not not be in the best interest of the community and our advise to the council is to abandon the allocation of plots and move the Bus stop to New station instead which was ideally meant for such.

We further wish report we have since gotten approval from the ministry of local government to pave the entrance into the Mortuary as well as the car park outside the Mortuary and the procurement processes are already in motion as part of the 2023 CDF projects under parklands ward.

Our wish and appeal is that the local authority should be engaging us every time they are embarking on any development in Nkana so that we dont seem like we are working in silos and we note that it is not every available land that should be given out as plots as some pieces of land must be for special uses such as accomodating those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones.

A BIG THANKS TO BUMI MILLING FOR BEING A BLESSING TO OUR COMMUNITY.

Yesterday we took time thanks to Mrs Mary Fawaz the proprietor of BUMI MILLING to bless 140 old people drawn from Kandabwe and St Anthony with bags of mealie meal.
BUMI is a milling Company that operates in Nkana constituency and has partnered with us to be sharing bags of mealie meal at intervals to vulnerable members of our community as part of their innitiative to be giving back to the community .

We will externally be grateful for the support we continue to receive from the private sector in supplementing our efforts to better the lives of our people and we will continue to reach out to the business houses to come on board and help us attend to challenges in our community.

We thank the two communities of Kandabwe and St Anthony and all the other communities in Nkana where we have been doing these humanitarian activities for the order they have always exhibited during these activies otherwise such exercises like giving out free mealie meal can be explosive if not handled properly.

MAY GOD BLESS THE PEOPLE OF NKANA WITH MORE CHEERFUL GIVERS.

As the community mourns, plans are already underway to celebrate DJ FKM's life and legacy. A tribute event is being organized to honor his contributions to the music industry and the indelible mark he left on Kitwe's cultural landscape. It will serve as a testament to his enduring influence and a chance for all who were touched by his work to come together in remembrance.

The passing of Frank Kaseke Mulenga, DJ FKM, has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew him. His passion, talent, and unwavering dedication to his craft will be remembered as a shining example of the transformative power of music. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire future generations of artists and event promoters in Kitwe and beyond.

This notice goes to inform all residents of Buchi and Kamitondo that we will have a community meeting on tuesday the 4th of July 2023 starting at 14.30 hrs.
Note that we will confirm the venue tommorow monday.

This meeting has been called for us to update the community on the progress being made in relation to the developmental programs in Buchi and Kamitondo as well as to give an opportunity for the residents to share with us their challenges and express their expectations.

Let me share something with you.
Am a graduate in education (primary teacher). I completed in 2019. But before I even went to college, I was working as a security guard. Not only that, I am the person who managed the BUCHI REFORMED COMMUNITY SCHOOL based at REFORMED CHURCH IN ZAMBIA for 3 years. I pushed myself in education using the money I was getting at the community school and from the security guard company. For 3 years I never rested. I was working day and night.
In 2020, the world was invaded with COVID19 which caused all schools to be closed. By this time, I had already finished my tertiary education, stopped working as a guard, now working as a private school teacher.
The closure of schools in 2020 gave me a lot of problems, I had no employment and nothing to do for survival. Remember I don't have parents in Buchi, I rent.
It clicked in my mind to say, there's something I can do.
To cut the story short, I started making slippers using old tires. I started with a K20 as my capital which I used to buy contact glue.
Many people were seeing me to be not OK when I was moving around Buchi collecting old tires.
Today I can proudly say, am an employer of 2 youths who are working for me.
I never learnt how to make slippers from anyone, but my phone has been my teacher.

Life can be easy for you if you yourself see the potential in you!!!

Let me share with you how as young people we can be self sustained and create employment in our community.

It is so sad that Many youths in our community are not taking skills seriously. What is surprising is that, even parents who are suppose to encourage their children to take advantage of this government's way of improving young people's lives, seem not to care!
Fellow young people, please think about your future. Stop thinking of that house your parents has, make your own life. Ico ici boba wikalamo today, one day you will not stay there.
To you graduates, stop waisting your time waiting to be employed, create jobs, be your own boss and employ your fellow youths.
It is time to be employers and not employees!!

KAMAKONDE SCHOOL PROJECT -PROGRESS REPORT.

Dear residents of Kitwe west we wish to report to you that the contractor on the project to construct the 1 x 5 block of classrooms has assured us that he will speed up the works as all the materials for the remaining works have been secured and already being delivered to site as can be seen in the pictures attached.

Note that our desire is for works to be completed as soon as possible without compromising on quality and we can assure you that we will work closely with the contractor to ensure that this is done.

Note that this project is being financed using the 2022 CDF allocation and that the importance of this project cannot be overemphasized in as far as decongesting the existing classes is concerned because currently some of our children are eveb learning from churches near the school.We further wish to inform you that the much anticiapted Fully fledged Secondary School for kitwe west is underway as the land issue is almost concluded.

THE BUCHI/KAMITONDO SEWER REPLACEMENT PROJECT.

We wish to report to you dear resisdents of Buchi and Kamitondo that the project to replace the small and old sewer pipes in Buchi and Kamitondo will be resuming very soon.

As you are aware the challenge of sanitation in Buchi and Kamitondo has haunted us for years and not long ago we had announced that Nkana Water was embarking on a Project to replace the old sewer pipes which were old and small and was part of the reasons why there were too many sewer blockages.You many note that the said project had innitially started but stalled on acoount that the pipes that were procured had not yet been delivered and that there was also a man power issue.

We wish to announce that the Acting managing Director for Nkana water informed us yesterday Friday that the sewer pipes replacement project will resume by the end of next week as the company was finalizing the manpower recruitment processes.

We further wish to inform you that part of the reason why there were constant blockages of sewer was the collapsed mindolo sewer trunk line and that the Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation project phase 2 which we announced had commenced will see the rebuilding of the Main sewer truck line that carries all the sewer discharge from Buchi and Kamitondo.

We wish to thank you for the patience and the trust you had had in our ability to lobby for this Problem solution.

WE CANT WAIT TO LIVE TO SEE THE END OF THE SEWER PROBLEMS IN BUCHI AND KAMITONDO.

NOTE!!! Today saturday evening from 20hrs to 21 hrs i will be interacting with the Buchi Community on the community whatsapp groups.The residents will be at liberty to ask me any questions relating to development of our ward and our constituency.

WE JUST NEED TO BE A LITTLE AMBITIOUS. MONEY IS NEVER TOO LITTLE WHAT FAILS US IS OUR MINDS.

Dear residents of Nkana you all agree with me that our roads are in terrible conditions in all our 8 wards and there is no chance that any government will attend to those roads in our communities atleast not any time soon.
Now we spent our CDF for 2022 and we have allocated our CDF 2023 on projects like schools and clinics and markets and we have quite a number of such projects .

My thinking is that we consider spending the entire community projects component of our 2024 CDF on roads.This can mean we can buy a big PAVING MACHINE and alot of materials for us to make huge quantities of PAVERS so that in 2024 we start paving our roads.The rules of CDF is that you as the community must make proposals of the projects you wish to be done in your wards through your WDC .So i wish to lobby with you that we start priotizing one problem after another, that way we can get to the levels our friends have reached.So my simple proposal is that we priotize roads in 2024 and 2025 we can priotize another problem just like that.

Kindly pick up this discussion and when i come back we will have community meetings to have this conversation.NOTE that this is just my thinking after being provokes here in brussels, otherwise i cannot impose projects on you but i think we have kept on crying for too long yet we are not deliberate in addressing such problems like the poor state of our roads .
