Lusaka couple divorces after 2 weeks of marriage, hubby doesn't want fertile woman

A COUPLE of Hellen Kaunda in the nation's capital, Lusaka has divorced after only 14 days in marriage.

If the duration of their marriage is shocking, the reason of their break up is even more shocking.

After getting married on October 21, 2023, David Banda, 41 an employee of Beautiful Living Company petitioned the Lusaka Boma Local Court to end his marriage with Doris Mutale aged 29 because she was fertile and able to give birth.

Yes, you heard right - fertile and able to give birth!

Running the court through the couple's journey to their short lived marriage and eventual divorce hearing, Doris told the court that Banda paid K13,000 dowry out of the charged K15,000 to pave way for a Chilangamulilo, Kitchen party and eventually a wedding ceremony.

Doris said as the days of events approached, Banda shocked both her and her kin and kith when he called off the Chilangamulilo and Kitchen party five days before their dates while demanding that the wedding ceremony be revised down to a low key bride delivery ceremony on one of the evenings.

However, after being delivered to her husband, Doris was again shocked when her brand new husband asked her to go back to her relatives and stay for a month as he needed to sort out a few things with his ex-girlfriend, a request she refused.

Doris later learned that the ex girlfriend her husband was referring to was actually his former wife named Sarah Phiri whom he had divorced in April of this year.

Curious about what else Banda was hiding, Doris activated FBI instincts possessed by every suspicious woman and what she was to discover was shocking.

He husband had been married to three other women whom he divorced before finding her.

UPDATE ON THE IMPEACHMENT MOTION ON THE SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.

The Clerk of the national Assembly has been directed by the Speaker to respond to the impeachment motion stating that the motion can not proceed because the threshold of members who should support the impeachment has not been met because some members who had signed the petition have written letters to withdraw their signatures.

I have now written to the Clerk to ask the Speaker through him to furnish me with the information as to how many members have excused themselves and who those members are and i have further asked the clerk to site the law which allows for the withdrawal of the signatures and i have further asked if i can submit a list of other members who have also asked to join the petition list.

The petition is provided for by the constitution and any attempt to stop the process must be supported by the law and because the matter is in public dormain there are members of the public who have taken an interest in the matter and have been pressing me that they would want to see its logical conclusion...

MUTTI SUSPENDS 17 MPs FOR 30 DAYS

Speaker Nelly Mutti has suspended Kamfinsa MP, Christopher Kang'ombe and 16 others for 30 days, for allegedly breach of Parliamentary Conduct in last week's disruption of the house.

On Friday, the Clerk of the National Assembly received a petition of 58 Opposition Members of Parliament to impeach Nellie Mutti for breach of the Constitution partial and poor handling Affairs of the House.

We are delighted to announce that Enock Mwepu will take up the role of under-9s coach in our academy, in the New Year.

Men’s first-team head coach Roberto De Zerbi said, “We’re really happy that Enock has decided to remain here at our club and use his experience to help develop our young players.

“Considering his age, Enock has a wealth of experience. He has played in the Champions League and Premier League as well as captaining his country. This is the next chapter for Enock in his footballing career.”

Chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said, “We were very keen to help Enock with the next stage of his career, and we’re delighted he’s taken us up on the offer to join our academy coaching staff after an incredibly difficult time for him and his family following his diagnosis.

“Whenever we recruit a new member of staff, on or off the pitch, we want them to fit with our club values and Enock absolutely encapsulates those perfectly. We’re thrilled Enock will continue to be part of our club, and believe Enock has a huge amount of potential as a coach. We want to give him the opportunity to flourish in this role.”

Enock was forced to call time on his playing career in October, aged just 24, after it was discovered he had a hereditary heart condition and, after a period away from the game to assess his options, he has decided to return to the club.

A Zambian international, Enock had the nickname 'The Computer' throughout his career, based on his ability to read the game.

He made 81 league appearances over four years at Salzburg, scoring 11 goals and laying on nine assists, while also playing in every one of their Champions League group stage games during the 2020/21 season.

Enock was also on the scoresheet in the 2021 OFB-Cup Final, grabbing a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Lask. He was a regular for the Zambia national team after making his debut in September 2017.

A CRY FOR HELP FROM PEOPLE OF BUNTUNGWA OVERSPILL.

With the government effort to provide free education to a boy and a girl child in every community, so should be the learning environment but that is not the case with the over growing population for the people of Buntungwa overspill.

For quite some time, the whole community has been depending on a very small school, Mama Rosa Primary for education but that seems impossible now due to unprecedented increase in population.

It has come to attention of many that, a small classroom at Mama Rosa without proper windows and sanitation is accommodating more than 60 pupils and limited learning time bearing in mind the Covid era.

Is there a solution to this? YES. There has been infrastructure which has been redundant for a long time now, Toscana University. Seeing these structures wearing out when learners need learning environment does not make sense to people around. The government through local authorities should come to people’s aid and enter into consesus with the people in charge of this institution for the betterment of this community.

Like the saying goes by, education is the greatest equaliser, and that can only be achieved if learners from this community are provided with quality and proper learning environment like any others from Matero Boys and other schools.;
