Driver who hit George K***a Toll Plaza sentenced..................
A 49-year-old truck driver, Henry Musariri, has been sentenced to three years in prison and fined K140,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving.

This incident led to the destruction of the George K***a Toll Gate in Mkushi, resulting in a two-week suspension of toll operations and significant revenue loss.

The National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) reported that the damage to the toll gate's canopy was substantial, compromising all five pillars.
Repairs are expected to take around two months, with temporary booths installed to resume toll services.

Fortunately, the toll collector who was injured in the accident has been discharged from the hospital and is out of danger.

RAINBOW AGROSCIENCES ZAMBIA LTD RESPONDS TO FARMER'S PLEA FOR HELP.........
The Power of Social Media

Mkushi-based Field Agronomist, Mr. Bright Kalunga, from Rainbow Agrosciences Zambia Ltd, came across a distressing post on MKUSHI ONLINE CHANNEL . The post showed Mr. Chipabila's field severely damaged by a fall armyworm infestation. Moved to act, Mr. Kalunga contacted the channel's admin to obtain Mr. Chipabila's contact details.

Upon getting in touch, Mr. Chipabila welcomed the offer of assistance. Mr. Kalunga provided 100g of Porselen Plus, a highly effective insecticide, free of charge to treat the affected 1-hectare field. The treatment was applied this morning, Thursday, December 12th, 2024.

Armyworms likely to be an issue this season ‼️

A worrying infestation of armyworms has been detected in some maize fields in Mkushi District, with the affected area including Mr. Chipabila's field in Munsakamba ward as can be seen in the pictures.

The presence of these pests poses a big threat to the maize crop.
