ESTHER LUNGU FLATS SEIZED

The Drug Enforcement Commission –DEC has disclosed that the 15 flats in State Lodge area belonging to former First Lady Esther Lungu have been seized and investigations are continuing following her explanation when she appeared for questioning this morning.

The former First Lady in company of her husband Edgar Lungu this morning appeared before DEC for interrogation over her 15 flats the commission took possession in state lodge area which are suspected to be proceeds of crime.

DEC spokesperson Mathias Kamanga told Millennium radio that this is when DEC has officially seized the property as it had earlier on only taken possession of property when it was yet to ascertain who the owner was.

But earlier after appearing before the commission Ms. Lungu’s lawyer Makebi Zulu told Journalists that the matter had been settled and any further follow up from the law enforcement agencies would be mere witch hunt.

BREAKING NEWS: Juba Airways Fokker 50 Plane crash-lands at MGQ Airport (Moqadishu) Somalia 🇸🇴 all 30 passengers survived

It is said to be an internal flight from the city of Baidoa to the capital. The cause of the crash is not yet clear. The airline would release more information about what happened "as it becomes available".

A horrifying video from the scene showed the plane upside down after having apparently flipped over on landing.

Zambia Extradites Chinese rac!st filmmaker and Children Exploiter to Malawi

Authorities in Zambia 🇿🇲 have extradited a Chinese citizen who fled Malawi 🇲🇼 last month over accusations of selling exploitative videos to China of Malawian children.

Police in Malawi said on Sunday that their counterparts in Zambia handed over Lu Ke alias Susu to them Saturday night in the Mchinji district which borders Zambia.

“He is in police custody. He was handed over by our friends from Zambia. As of now he has been charged with trafficking in persons, but other charges may be added,” said Harry Namwaza, the deputy spokesperson for Malawi Police Service.

ONE OF THE 3 CROOKS THAT STOLE K600,000 CASH AND PHONES FROM MOBILE CITY KITWE WAS IDENTIFIED AND SHOT DEAD

The suspect in question is Prince M., an ex-convict known by his street name Kamwefu was shot in the head when Zambia police attempted to arrest him for questioning. He resisted arrest and tried to speed off in his car. The cops tried to shoot at his tyres to deflate them, and he was shot in the head in the process.

Sharon Zulu, the Copperbelt Province Commanding officer indicated that the police had identified the suspect through video footage.

The criminals had been smart enough to steal the CCTV drive from Mobile City but were unaware that they were clearly captured entering the store around the time of the theft by the next door security cameras of Pick n Pay.

Ms Zulu indicated that officers and two Security guards from mobile city recognised Kamwefu from the footage. By talking to street kids, the police also found out that the suspect used his share of the loot to buy a silver Toyota Allison with Reg number ADD 8363 which was dented on the left.

Armed with this info, the suspect's car was identified on the 7th of July at 09:20am. He tried to get away and did not stop when the police fired 3 warning shots in the air. That was when the police fired 4 shots to try and deflate his tyres. 3 tyres were deflated whilst the fourth shot unfortunately hit the suspect in the head.

Miss Zulu stated that the suspect was rushed to Kitwe Teaching Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

📌Gender of coco-de-mer seeds in Seychelles are split 50-50 male and female, new research finds

New research has revealed that the same amount of female and male seeds of the coco de mer trees are produced naturally and that both female and male trees exist in equal proportions in early life stages, meaning that selective planting is not needed.

The findings on the world’s largest nut will help put to rest some myths and mysteries around its reproduction. The newly discovered facts surrounding the s*x determination of coco de mer trees was published in a research paper carried out by the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF) in partnership with Swiss scientists from ETH Zürich.

The research - initiated by Emma Morgan as part of her PhD programme in 2013 -- looked at several demographic and genetic processes underlying the regeneration of coco de mer.

JAMES NDAMBO APOLOGIES FOR HIS STATEMENT ON “DANCING” STUDENT NURSES

African Union Holdings Group of Companies Chairperson and My Home Town Founder, James Ndambo has apologized over a statement he issued accusing authorities of dismissing 4 Chilonga Mission School student nurses for dancing.

During the widely televised “Miss My Home Town” pageant in Choma last evening, Mr. Ndambo offered to adopt the student nurses that were dismissed for twerking and send them to live in the United States of America and further directed his organization’s Co-founder and my home town international spokesperson, Dr. Toni Luck to locate the nurses and facilitate their way to the USA.

Mr. Ndambo who expressed disappointment at the dismissal said it was not expected as people were expected to be free in their country.

But Southern Province Minister Cornelius Mweetwa who was also in attendance clarified this impression saying the said nurses were actually student nurses who were expelled by school authorities at Chilonga mission school of nursing and midwifery and not government as alleged by Mr. Ndambo.

Mr. Mweetwa said the student nurses were only reinstated following the intervention of Health Minister Sylvia Masebo who pleaded their cases before school management and had them reinstated.

And reacting to Mr. Mweetwa’s clarification, Mr. Ndambo apologized for the statement issued, saying his statement could have been misunderstood and further apologized to the 4 student nurses for the embarrassing his statement could have caused.

The student nurses from Chilonga Nursing School were expelled following a video showing them twerking in the out-patient department at the hospital.

Germany's First Black Member of State Government🇩🇪🇩🇪

The daughter of two Malian refugees has become the first Black member of a state government in Germany.

Aminata Touré was named Wednesday to the Cabinet of Governor Daniel Günther in Germany's northernmost state of Schleswig-Holstein, on the border with Denmark.

The 29-year-old member of the environmentalist Green party will oversee the Social Affairs Ministry in the coalition government led by Günther, a Christian Democrat.

Touré became a state lawmaker in 2017. Two years later she was elected deputy speaker, the first Black person to hold such a position in any of Germany's 16 states.

Speaking at a 2019 event in Berlin with former U.S. President Barack Obama, Touré recounted how she grew up in a refugee camp wondering whether voices like hers would ever be represented in German politics.

Inspired by Obama's successful presidential campaign, Touré said she decided to run for office too.

Germany has never had a Black minister in the federal government.

OUTBREAK OF STRANGE DISEASE AT LUNTE TECHNICAL SCHOOL

A strange disease which appears to be attacking the nervous system causing patients to lose their firmness has broken out at Lunte Technical School in Lunte district of Northern Province.

Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya who confirmed the development in a statement says samples have been drawn from the affected children and dispatched to Lusaka for diagnostic purposes.

Mr Kafwaya is hopeful that a quick diagnosis will enable a rapid effective management of the cases.

He says the local health team will continue to assess the school environment in a bid to understand what could be the cause of the strange disease.

Clinics have begun closing in some US states after a Supreme Court ruling on Friday removed American women's constitutional right to abortion.
