Fellow Citizens, as you may be were, on 8th April, 2025, the Republican President of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema assented into, law, the CYBER CRIMES ACT, 2025.
This Act seeks to provide for offences relating to computers and computer systems; provide for the protection of persons against cyber crimes; provide for child online protection;
and provide for matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.
One of our duties at the Center For Constitutionalism and Legal Justice(CCONLEJ) is to provide civic education to the Citizens.
In view of the foregoing, the Center will henceforth, get to unpack the contents of the much talked about "CYBER CRIMES ACT, 2025".
This is in a bid to help one another understand the contents of this very law, that was passed by the United Party For National Development (UPND) a few days ago.
The Center acknowledges, the mixed feelings that have come with the introduction of this very piece of law.
We shall share section by section, of this very law.
The Center encourages Citizens to find time and download this piece of law on the National Assembly of Zambia website, so as to acquaint themselves with the CYBER CRIMES ACT, 2025.
I thank you.
Gregory Chisha
Executive Director
Center For Constitutionalism and Legal Justice (CCONLEJ)
