Zambia Oscars Committee has been established in 2021 and was approved by the International Feature Film Award Committee that oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films in July 2022. The Committee was further launched by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts in August 2022. Zambia Oscars Committee has to be approved every year by the Academy Awards and we are pending the approval for this year.
Committee members have been carefully selected against their professional filmmaking background, corporate world and government representatives for quality assurance.
Committee members are legible to serve at the Committee for the period of 3 years upon which new selection of members will be done (either by the invitation or public nominations).
Zambia Oscars Committee calls for submissions for Zambian feature films to represent country at the 96th Oscars in March 2024.
The Zambia Oscars Committee strictly follows the submissions rules set by the Academy Awards. The rules are available for download here:https://www.oscars.org/sites/oscars/files/96_international_feature_rules.pdf as well as from our submission page: https://filmfreeway.com/zambiaoscarscommittee
Filmmaker who are interested in submitting their films for consideration to the Zambia Oscars Committee can submit their film via our Filmfreeway account: https://filmfreeway.com/zambiaoscarscommittee by Wednesday 20th September 2023.
Committee members also reserve a right to invite a producer to submit his/her film for consideration using the same submission link.
Committee members will then carefully review all submitted films, and providing that the film adheres to all rules and criteria set by the Academy Awards, it will be selected to represent our country at the 96th Oscars.
Selected film will be announced on Friday 29th September 2023.

Viola Davis achieved EGOT status after recently picking up her first Grammy. The honor follows her Emmy win for How to Get Away With Murder, an Oscar for Fences, and a Tony for King Hedley II and Fences.

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards honor outstanding achievements in television, recording, film, and Broadway theatre. EGOT is the status given to people who have won all four major American entertainment awards.

She's only the third Black woman to claim EGOT status and the 18th person to receive the honor overall.
