Chipata United Club Coach, Esau Zulu, has been fired.

Club Secretary, Aaron Mwale, says the club has fired Zulu for continuing to insult members and giving false information to the public.

In a letter dated, 9th January, 2024, Mwale said despite engaging Zulu for dialogue he has not changed what he termed negative behaviour.

He said that at this point Zulu has demonstrated that he can't work with the executive committee.

Mwale further said that Zulu's behaviour does not demonstrate sportsmanship.

Efforts to get comment from Zulu proved futile.

TWO DIE IN A ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ALONG GREAT EAST ROAD IN CHIPATA

Two pedestrians in Chipata District have died after being hit by a motor vehicle near the District Hospital.

The incident happened yesterday (Monday) when a Toyota Sienta Reg No. ARB 6838 which was being driven by Samson Banda aged 30 lost control due to excessive speed.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Limpo Liywali who confirmed the sad development said the vehicle careered off the road and in the process hit the two pedestrians before it overturned.

Mr Liywali said Caroline Sakala sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot while Dina Ngweba also succumbed to head injuries upon arrival at Chipata Central hospital.

‘’The accident happened when Banda due to excessive speed, lost control of his motor vehicle and careered off to the right side of the road and in the process hit the pedestrians before it overturned’’ he said.

The Police Commanding Officer added that the two bodies were deposited in the mortuary at the same hospital awaiting post-mortem while the driver escaped unhurt and will be charged accordingly adding that the vehicle was extensively damaged.

AGGRIEVED MANSA MAN SETS CHIEF’S PALACE ABLAZE

A man of Sub Chief Kale of Mansa district has allegedly set ablaze the chief’s palace after a traditional ruling that led to the dissolution of his marriage.

The traditional leader has told Diamond News that an irate Evaristo Kasaka has on several occasions threatened to torch the residence, on grounds that the chief sided with his wife’s relatives to retrieve his former wife from the matrimonial home.

Kasaka’s wife Brenda Ng’andwe has also disclosed that her former husband went to burn down the palace thinking that she was being kept in the premises when in fact not.

The arsonist was then arrested, but later he was released when police allegedly determined that he was not in his right frame of mind hence was released even though no medical expert assessed him.

Two houses, a toilet and a communal structure were damaged in the incident.

Zahara has died

Multi-award winning musician Zahara (real name Bulelwa Mkutukana) has passed away. The hitmaker died at a private Johannesburg Hospital on Monday night. Fiancé Mpho Xaba was by her bedside

The Loliwe hitmaker was admitted in hospital with liver complications two weeks ago. A source close to the muso told Sunday World that the singer passed away just before 9pm.

“The family will release a statement soon. She was with Mpho when she passed away,” the source added.

Mkutukana family spokesperson and Zahara’s cousin Oyama Dyosiba said he was struggling to locate Xaba on Monday night.

“I am getting calls from everywhere. I am in Cape Town and doing my best to get hold of Mpho. I can’t get hold of him,” he added.

A week ago, the family confirmed that Zahara was hospitalised for a week.

They thanked those supporting them and expressing compassion for the then ailing musician. This after reports the singer was rushed to hospital due to “liver complications”.

The statement read: “Unfortunately, even though our daughter’s hospitalisation has been of strict confidentiality within our family and close friends, that hasn’t stopped the spread of disingenuous information on the internet. We want to stress that any reliable information regarding Zahara’s health will be communicated via her official social media platforms or by herself.”

The singer’s family from East London also arrived in Joburg to be by the singer’s fiancé, Xaba’s, side.

Zahara was admitted to a medical ward but her condition became worse and she was transferred to the ICU section of the private hospital.

Last week, the singer’s situation deteriorated and she was reportedly unresponsive.

Kasama Magistrate jails Kambwili for 5 months imprisonment

Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) member of the Central Committee, Dr. Chishimba Kambwili, has been sentenced to five months imprisonment for hate speech.

This is in a case where he was charged with the offence of expressing hatred and ridicule of the people of Southern Province based on tribe and place of origin.

Kambwili, 54, of house number 9, Wisteria Avenue, Luanshya, appeared before Kasama Resident Magistrate, Samson Mumba for Judgement.

Kambwili is expected to appeal both the conviction and the sentence.
