*"ZERO BALANCE OR NO EXAMS FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS" - (TVTC) MANAGEMENT.

By
November 6, 2024 -

In a rather surreal moment than shocking announcement that left many reeling, Technical and Vocational Teachers' College (TVTC) Management declared that final year students with outstanding balances will not be allowed to sit for their exams.

This revelation sparked a mix of emotions, ranging from despair to desperation, among the affected students.

As the college principal, Mr. Harrison Phiri, addressed the student body, the air was initially thick with anticipation. He began by acknowledging the struggles faced by students with financial arrears, offering a glimmer of hope. However, his words quickly turned stern as he emphasized that final year students must settle their accounts to the last Kwacha.".... Without further delay, I wish to announce to you that all final year students will need to have Zero balance, or else no exams", was the stark message.

The lecture theatre from which the address was held from fell silent as the weight of the announcement sunk in. Many final year students, already anxious about their future, were now confronted with the daunting reality of clearing their debts or forfeiting their chance to graduate. Tears streamed down the faces of some, as the harsh truth hit home. The once-hopeful atmosphere transformed into a scene of anguish, with wails and sniffles filling the air.

For those with no financial safety net, the prospect of finding the necessary funds seemed insurmountable. Families struggling to make ends meet would have to scrounge for every ngwee. As they struggled to come to terms with their predicament, one question lingered: .."where would they turn for help?" The uncertainty hung in the air like a dark cloud, casting a shadow over the futures of these aspiring professionals.

In a stark contrast, students not in their final year were offered a lifeline. Management assured them that they could sit for exams upon paying a portion of their balance ( threshold), providing a beacon of hope amidst the turmoil.

As the TVTC community grapples with this tough stance, one thing is clear: the fate of these final year students hangs precariously in the balance. Will a miracle intervene, or will the dreams of these young minds be put on hold?

*A NEW ERA COMMENCES FOR TVTC, AS SDP GETS SUSPENDED-*

*_Because the whole team swears to be for everyone_*

_By Chilufya S._

The swearing-in ceremony at TVTC was a vibrant and momentous occasion as the newly elected leadership, previously known as the Student Development Party, took on the responsibility of guiding the student populace. The event, graced by the college management, particularly Mr. Nyirenda, was a true spectacle.
In his remarks the Guest of honour advised the team to lead with vigor, respect and deliver the best as they look up to God.

What truly added color to the occasion was the unique virtual swearing-in of the incoming Vice President, Madam Naomi Mwale. This innovative approach highlighted the college's embrace of modern technology and adaptability in the face of challenges. It symbolized a new era of leadership that is both progressive and inclusive.

According to the college constitution, the tenure of office for these student leaders is limited to a year, emphasizing the importance of accountability and fresh perspectives in student governance. This limited term ensures a dynamic and ever-evolving leadership structure, encouraging continuous engagement and renewal within the student body.

Overall, the swearing-in ceremony was not only a ceremonial event but a testament to the college's commitment to student representation and empowerment. It showcased the blend of tradition and innovation that defines TVTC, promising an exciting year ahead under the stewardship of Madam Naomi Mwale and her team.
Crowning the Ceremony, was the in coming president, Mr Kendricks Simutowe.

The swearing in ceremony only now leaves the handing over of power from the former executive to the newer on a later date to be advised.
The inauguration marked a groundbreaking moment in the annals of the institution's history, characterized by its unorthodox and abrupt arrangements. Amidst the excitement of the new executive assuming office, peculiar occurrences cast

"ADP ABANDONED: FROM ALLIES TO RIVALS"

By Chilufya L. Sonta,
March 5, 2024*

In the annals of student politics, no story has been as compelling as the saga of Chrispin and Kendricks. Last year, they stood shoulder to shoulder, representing the same political party, the mighty ADP, as candidates for the Student Union President and Vice President respectively. This year, however, the landscape has dramatically shifted. Chrispin, who once held the presidential candidacy for ADP, has now abandoned his first political party and formed a new one, B.U.M.A. On the other hand, Kendricks, who was once the vice-presidential candidate alongside Chrispin, now heads the SDP.

The Genesis of a Partnership

Their journey began as a beacon of unity and shared vision. Their partnership in the ADP was marked by a common goal - to serve the student body and bring about meaningful change. Their campaign was characterized by a shared commitment to student welfare and academic excellence.

Interestingly, their relationship was not always equal. At one point, Chrispin led Kendricks in their co-curricular club, UNESCO. Now, the tables have turned, and Kendricks leads Chrispin in the same club. This dynamic shift in leadership roles adds another layer of complexity to their political rivalry.

The Thirst for Presidency

However, beneath the surface of this seemingly harmonious partnership, a thirst for presidency was brewing. Rumors began to circulate that the duo's relationship had soured due to their individual aspirations for the top seat. The thirst for power, it seemed, was stronger than their commitment to their shared vision.

The Split and Abandonment of ADP

This year, the rumors were confirmed. Chrispin and Kendricks, once allies, are now competitors. The split was a shock to many, a clear indication that their thirst for presidency had superseded their previous alliance. In doing so, they abandoned their former party, the ADP, leaving many to question their loyalty and commitment.
Their actions could be likened to a young man who impregnates a girl without understanding the full responsibilities. They knew the responsibilities that came with leading a party, yet they decided to create or rebrand parties again. One can only hope that these won't be abandoned for newer ones again.

The Rise of an Independent
In the midst of this political turmoil, a new contender has emerged - "Teacher pa rural". Standing on an independent ticket, he is a visionary man who should not be underestimated. His entry into the race adds a new dimension to the election and could potentially disrupt the plans of both Chrispin and Kendricks.

The Battle Ahead
As the election approaches, the student body watches with bated breath. Will Chrispin's B.U.M.A, Kendricks' SDP, or "Teacher pa rural" emerge victorious? Or will another contender seize the opportunity amidst this division? One thing is clear - neither Chrispin nor Kendricks is ready to play second fiddle this time around.

In the end……………
The story of Chrispin and Kendricks serves as a stark reminder of the volatile nature of politics, even at the student level. It underscores the power of ambition, the fragility of alliances, and the unpredictable twists that can alter the course of political journeys. As the dust settles on this split, one can only hope that the spirit of service to the student body remains paramount, regardless of who occupies the presidency.

In the end, A number of questions remain remain answered;
1.Did Chrispin and Kendricks choose this path for selfish, power-hungry reasons,
a)could they not work together because one of them is inferior and unable to deliver,
b) or did they abandon their former party, the once mighty ADP, because they're both cowards?

Only time will tell. The student body awaits the outcome of this intriguing political saga. The election results will undoubtedly shed more light on the motivations behind their decisions. Until then, the speculation continues.
