Ndola Court jails evil stepmother

A 23-YEAR-OLD woman of Ndola has been sentenced to five years imprisonment for assaulting her stepson on his private part with a needle.

Ndola-based magistrate Brian Simachela has described the act as inhuman, barbaric, satanic and heartless.

In this case, Florence Lumunga, a housewife of Mushili Township, was convicted of one count of assault on a child.

On August 27 last year, around 17:00 hours, Lumunga assaulted her eight-year-old stepson on his private part and backside using a needle.

It was heard that the reason for assaulting the child was that he knocked off early from school and this amounted to wasting his father’s resources.

The court heard that Lumunga became annoyed with the boy and whipped his private parts and backside, resulting in cuts and injuries.
