MEDIA SHOULD FOCUS ON GETTING THE VIEWS FROM THE PEOPLE TRADING INSIDE THE MARKETS THAN THOSE ON THE STREETS- SIMON MWEWA

By Siba Kachuzu

A Lusaka based media personnel Mr Simon Mwewa commonly known by his page Simon Mwewa Lane TV ( SMltv ) has welcomed the move by the government of removing street vendors.

Speaking today during the media interaction with "PENTAGON MEDIA", he said that most of people selling their merchandize in streets have stands in the main market that they opted to rent other people and some have abandoned them for unknown reasons.

He added that the abolishiment of street vending will bring equality among the marketeers in terms of business which he said it used to favor those in the streets than in the markets.

"I am 100% sure that those in the markets are happy to see their friends back and they really want them to go back ". He said

He has since commended Police for the peaceful clean up and that they should continue with the same positive gesture.

He further Advised the Media to get views from those trading in the markets and not from those that have been chased from the streets.

HON- CHARLES MILUPI WRITES๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ‘‡

THE 195 KILOMETRES LIVINGSTONE-KAZUNGULA-SESHEKE ROAD REQUIRES TOTAL RECONSTRUCTION

On Thursday afternoon, in the company of Kazungula district commissioner, Elias Siamibila, Road Development Agency (RDA) board chairperson, Eng. Mulchand Kuntawala, the acting chief executive officer and director, Eng. Grace Mutembo Mwenda, and other government officials, we undertook a tour of the 195-kilometre Livingstone-Kazungula-Sesheke Road up to Sikaunzwe in chief Sikute's area of Katombora Constituency.

Having been on this road both before and after the New Dawn administration formed government in 2021, I was not taking this tour to confirm how deplorable the Nakatindi Road is. I was undertaking this inspection to deliver a message to our people that we have accorded this highly-economic road a top-level priority status.

This road is now beyond repair. The road needs to be ripped, and the road reconstructed from scratch. It has even become difficult for motorists to dodge potholes on this road. Truckers are now avoiding this international route.

The Livingstone-Kazungula-Sesheke Road is part of a bigger road corridor stretching from the Copperbelt, North-Western, and Western provinces, which was under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement signed between the government and a private concessionaire two days before the August 12, 2021 general election.

Since this particular PPP arrangement is taking long to come into fruition, I have been discussing with my counterpart at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, that we should source for resources to work on this road. It is an emergency. We are looking at using locally-generated resources.
Looking at the extent of damage and the kilometres involved, we will require a substantial amount of money to rebuild the Nakatindi Road from scratch. Our people who came to welcome us to Sikaunzwe expressed hope.

UPND AS A PARTY IS BIGGER THAN THE GOVERNMENT, ITS THE DUTY OF THE GOVERNMENT TO RESPECT THE PARTY MEMBERS AND TAKE CARE OF THEM , WE SHOULD NEVER LIVE LIKE IN APPOSITION ITS A SHAME TO SEE UPND MEMBERS BEGGING FOR EMPOWERMENT - HONOURABLE CLEMENT ANDELEKI

By pentagon zambia

The Katombola member of parliament has told the upnd party to take care of it's members because no one will look after them.

It's a shame to see the government looking like it's the father of the UPND party whilest we all know that UPND as a party is bigger than the government

He has urged all those saving in government positions not to forget where they come from, because if it was not for the party , UPND wouldnt have ministers today.

It doesn't make sense seing the Secretary general asking for fuel money, the secretary general is the father of upnd and the government and everyone should respect him.

Carders should be taken care of, we should never forget where we came from , if it wasn't for carders, UPND members and everyone from the party who is crying from us, we wouldn't have saved today in government, he said.

Therefore we should even be ashamed of ourselves to see genuine upnd members crying Am fearless and I will talk until upnd members are considered .

In my constituency, I will only consider my people first before anyone else , and when I say that , I mean just like that.

He has revealed this to the media today in his constituency that everyone that supported upnd should benefit because it's not fair for ministers and MPs to be enjoying while the other party members are suffering ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

THE CDF ACT UNDER THE MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT THAT ALLOWS THE MINISTER TO SIGN ON EACH AND EVERY APPROVED PROJECT PROPOSALS COUNTRY COUNTRY WIDE IS A NUISANCE ACT THAT DOES NOT BENEFIT THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA- HONOURABLE CLEMENT ANDELEKI

The water delayment in mukuni village is caused by the nonsense act under CDF that only allows the Minister of local government to sign all the approved project proposals country wide.

Speaking today in mukuni Village during the interaction with residents , the Member of Parliament has refered the CDF act as a useless act because it does not respect the people and is the reason why people are still suffering because it's almost impossible to access CDF funds because of the same act.

People of mukuni are living without water because of the same act, the CDF commitee approved the water project in Mukuni in 2021 , but because of the same act that says that the minister should sign to each every project thereafter be channelled to the attorney general, now count , how many projects proposa will the minister sign alone in all the 156 consti in zambia.

It's not only in mukuni, we have many other projects that where approved by our CDF commitee and the council here, but because of the same useless act , people are still living in poverty, people are still living without schools, people are still living with roads and many others.

He has farther expressed disappoint also to the council for the continuity calling of meetings only for evaluation, and those evaluations they are doing are only stealing the money inform of allowances , the money that is meant to develop the country.

He has however given two weeks to the CDF and the council to sought out the water challenge , or else he will match to the the state house to protest or he will resolve the CDF commitee and push for kazungula council staffs to be fired for failing the people of kazungula ๐Ÿค”

*ALLEGED UPND CADRE PURPORTEDLY GRABBING LAND FROM UNZA IS ON HIS OWN, WITHOUT ANY BLESSINGS FROM THE PARTY WHATSOEVER*

Lusaka - September 27, 2022

The UPND as a Party wishes to reiterate that it upholds and promotes the Rule of Law as well as Law and Order at all times, hence disassociates itself from a video making rounds on social media in which some alleged cadres are said to be grabbing land belonging to the University of Zambia (UNZA).

Party President Mr Hakainde Hichilema who is also Republican President has repeatedly guided that the Rule of Law as well as Law and Order will be applied in all areas of his administration including the administration of land matters and anyone who goes outside the established laws and customized order is on his own and has no blessings of the Party.

Zambia is a country of laws and order. We do not live in a jungle. For this reason, anyone who acts contrary to the laws and causes disorder should be delt with using the existing laws.

The Party remains committed to upholding the Rule of Law and promoting Law and Order. This should be made clear to all those who think they can breach laws and cause disorder in the name of the Party.

The UPND wishes to further call upon the Police to immediately put an end to former regime's culture of illegal allocation of land in general and bring to book the said culprits in the UNZA land saga in particular. The party will not shield anyone found wanting.

*COURT OF APPEAL REJECTS MALANJI& LUSAMBO APPEAL*

By Hannock Kasama

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an application to discharge the stay of proceedings in the matter where Former Patriotic Front-PF KWACHA member of parliament JOSEPH MALANJI and his KABUSHI counterpart BOWMAN LUSAMBO have contested the rejection of their nomination papers.

Judge KELVIN MUZENGA has based his ruling on grounds that the application filed by Mr. MALANJI and Mr. LUSAMBO lacks merit.

Judge MUZENGA has dismissed the contention by Mr. MALANJI and Mr. LUSAMBO that they would be adversely affected by the stay of proceeding as their matter is time bound, within 21 days.

He has underlined that the Constitutional Court will still have jurisdiction to deliver the judgment in the matter after the Court of Appeal discharges the stay.

JUSTICE Minister Mulambo Haimbe says it is wrong for anyone to give an impression to the general public that the Constitional Court has declared Bowman Lusambo and joseph Malanji eligible.

https://www.facebook.com/203462316440538/posts/5739725719480809/

The Minister said the Constitutional Court has not made such a pronouncement.

He said the matter is still before the High Court for determination.

Mr Haimbe has since called for calm while the court determines the issues in contention between Lusambo, Malanji and the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and has also requested that all stakeholders exercise restraints and responsibility over the matter.

Speaking at a press briefing today, Mr Haimbe said that the briefing was being made in an effort to allay the possible consequences of the careless statements that have the potential to cause anarchy, therefore, the purpose of the briefing was to put matters in their correct context.

He said that Lusambo and Malanji in their petition had four questions before the court being whether the decision of ECZ dated August 24th is illegal, null and void, whether Lusambo and Malanji are eligible to contest the September 15th by elections, whether fresh nominations should be conducted to allow them to participate in the by elections and what was meant by causing a vacancy in the National Assembly in Article 72 of the constitution.

โ€œOf the four questions, the court refused to deal with one, two and three as they were not properly before court. This means the court never made pronouncements declaring the ECZ statement dated August 24th illegal or wrongful. The court never made any pronouncement as to the two to contest the September 15th, 2022 by elections or indeed whether fresh nominations should be conducted,โ€ he said.

He said it was therefore incorrect for anyone to give an impression to the public that the two are eligible or that they are duly nominated because the questions were now before the High Court for determ
