A 40 YEAR OLD LWENGE PRIMARY SCHOOL KISSES GROUND, LEAVING G7s STUCK.
Just as the children of Israel spent forty years in the wilderness in order to get to the promised land, that is how Lwenge primary school in Lupososhi district of Northern Province has taken,in order to have it built or renovated.
Standing strong for more than it could, the one by two classroom block which Grade seven pupils were using HB pencil for what it is known for at this point, decided to kiss the ground on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after the exam candidates finished shading small boxes,as set by the Examinations Council of Zambia.
School Headmistress Majorie Nampanzye who confirmed the development to Lwansase Radio News said, expressed shock at the development.
" This structure was built in 1985, and we are struggling with classroom space because we have ten classes against four. So it has brought us down such that even when writing exams for these pupils,we have to unconvinience the other classes ", Ms. Nampanzye explained.
The school which currently has a total enrollment of 492 pupils, now depends only on a one by two structure,to accommodate all the ten classes.
" She has since called on government to quickly come to the aid of the school, and construct a one by three structure,in order to create an enabling environment for both learners and teachers.
Meanwhile, Kampemba ward councilor Bernard Chishimba expressed displeasure over the reluctancy by Lupososhi District Administration over the matter.
" Last year when the other old structure collapsed, the DC and DMMU were here. I appealed for quick response about this school, but to no avail, and now the only structure which was standing is gone, where will our teachers teach our children from? Under the trees in this era?, please President Hichilema,we know you can not fail us, please come on board," he added.
