CIDRZ employee kills colleague, steals 19 laptops and sets offices on fire!
Police in Ndola have arrested a 28 year old employee of the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia –CIDRZ- for allegedly stabbing his colleague to death and stealing 19 laptops before setting the offices on fire.
BUPE SANDUKIYA, who is a cleaner at CIDRZ, is expected to be charged for murder, aggravated robbery and arson which he allegedly committed on Saturday around 20:00hrs.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer PEACEWELL MWEEMBA has disclosed that on the fateful day, the suspect went to the office and lured his colleague ARNOLD MVULA who he stabbed to death using a knife.
Mr. MWEEMBA said after killing his colleague, the suspect stole 19 laptops before setting the offices on fire and fleeing the scene.
He revealed that the suspect confirmed being behind the murder, theft of laptops and setting the offices on fire.
Mr. MWEEMBA said the suspect told Police investigators that he committed the crimes in order to conceal information as he was worried he would be caught for having stolen laptops weeks earlier.
He said 16 of the 19 laptops have been recovered and the suspect, who is in Police custody, is yet to be charged.

Nakonde wife beats cheating hubby to death!

A 14-year-old girl of Nakonde has been arrested by police after she beat her 26-year old husband to death last Sunday.

Using a stick as a weapon, Astridah Namukonda of Ifina Village is said to have whipped the life out of Cracious Sinkala after learning of his extramarital affair with another woman.

As if that was enough, the enraged Astridah also threatened to send her husband's mother who stayed near the couple to an early grave.

The victim died at Nakonde District Hospital from a head injury and a bleeding nose.

The couple had been married since 2019 and had a two-year-old daughter.

The police have charged the suspect with murder and she is awaiting trial.

Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Paul Achiume confirmed the incident in a statement.

Police investigate death of two University students!

Two people only identified as George Mumbi aged 24 of kasama District and Hilda Bupe Mumba aged 21 of Luanshya District both students at Rockview University in Lusaka died in what the Police suapect to be a Murder and a Su***de case.

The two students were found unconscious in a room at Green Grass Lodges Boarding house in Lusaka and were rushed to Matero Level One Hospital where they were both pronounced dead.

The incident is reported to have occurred between 08:00 hours and 15:00 hours on September 6, 2023 but Police received the report
of the incident around 15:45 hours and rushed to the scene at the Boarding house located along Mungule Road in 10 miles area.

Initial investigations revealed the two students were in a relationship and recently the female student was suspecting her boyfriend of being in another relationship with unknown female at the Boarding house.

According to the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage, the female student was seen going to the room of the male student where she was seen knocking but got no response. They later met outside and both went into the male's room.

Around 08:00 hours, the male student was seen exiting his room and locking it and later left the premises of the Boarding house. A while later, he emerged with a parcel in one hand and jumped over the wire fence into the premises of the Boarding house and went back into the room.

After a while, a caretaker and other students alleged that they heard screams calling for help coming from the room. The Caretaker and other students managed to force the door open and the female student was found laying unconsciously on one of the beds while the male student was battling for his life in the bathroom with an unknown white substance poured and smelling within the room.

They were rushed to Matero Level One Hospital where they were both pronounced dead upon arrival.

Drama at Lusaka Civic Centre as man gatecrashes wife's wedding

A low key wedding in Lusaka, the country's epicentre of adultery and fornication, this afternoon took a dramatic twist as a screaming man badged into the Civic Centre hall to disrupt a wedding in which his wife was the bride.

In what is likely to keep the country's gossip mills running for a long time, Mary Lungu, a Malawian, who is said to have been married for the last 20 years to Zambian husband Josphat Mumba, left her husband and children having breakfast this morning when she strolled out as if going to the local market.

Once out of her husband's sight, Mary tossed away the chitenge wrapper that concealed her elegant black wedding dress and went to the Civic Centre to marry her long-time Congolese boyfriend Jean Claude Murwanashyaka, bringing to the fore a complicated international love triangle.

As the couple sat side-by-side on the love-shaped white ceremonial sofa shooting lustful glances at each other, a nosy friend of Mary sent Mumba some pictures asking why he was not attending his ex-wife's wedding.

Upon receiving the photos, Mumba wasted no time; he assembled his children, loaded them on a Yango and sped off to the Civic Centre.

Although Mary and her groom had already exchanged rings and locked their lips in a passionate wedding smooch to seal their union, Mumba arrived in the nick of time to prevent the local authority from issuing his wife and her boyfriend a marriage certificate.

Restless and panting, Mumba explained to the shocked gathering that Mary was his wife and she left home in the morning, only for him to be informed that she was getting married.

To confirm his claims, the Lusaka City Council marriage registrar asked the children in Mumba's company if the bride was indeed their mother and that she had left them home, to which they affirmed.

In the light of the drama, the Lusaka City Council denied Mary the rare opportunity of securing herself a polyandrous marriage to

WASHINGTON, D.C., Saturday 15th April 2023

Minister of Transport and Logistics Hon. Frank Museba Tayali MP says rail-way transport of bulk cargo is the best mode of transportation to address decarbonization.

Mr. Tayali said the Zambian Government is working on modernizing the rail-way sector to ensure that it manages the huge traffic volumes of bulk cargo.

He said this during a panel discussion looking at the ‘Future of Sustainable Logistics’ on the sidelines of the 2023 World Bank Group - International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C., USA.

He told the meeting that the cost of doing business should be transformed in a sustainable manner.

Mr. Tayali said Zambia is now focused to use the rail-way sector in transporting bulk cargo.

“Zambia is in a process of bringing others to cooperate in doing business. The cost of doing business should be transformed in a sustainable manner. During the time of Covid-19, business was affected, and we had a lot of backloads, because a lot of trucks of over 40,000 moved out of the roads. So, we need to move to the rail-way system. Our rail-way system needs to be improved in infrastructure and resuscitated. The non-use of the rail-way sector has impacted hugely on the roads, and that is why we look to resuscitate the rail-way sector,” said Mr. Tayali.

“What will be important in the case for Zambia with huge traffic volumes having to be responsible for the movement of cargo and passengers, ours is to look at moving particularly the bulk cargo on rail, that is one area we have identified as a major contributor to decarbonization and sustainable logistic arrangements. Other than that, we look to aviation as a subsector.”

Mr. Tayali said Zambia is working with the World Bank to develop a national logistic strategy which is now underway.
