GO WELL FR. LYOBA

Today I joined fellow mourners and the Catholic Church in Luapula Province to pay our last respects to the late Father Bernard Lyoba.

Fr. Lyoba was not only a respected spiritual leader but also a teacher who taught at St. Clement Secondary School and other schools.

On behalf of government, we send our love and condolences to the bereaved family, the Catholic Church and the people of Luapula on this loss.

Fr. Lyoba passed away on April 12, 2023.

Congratulations Chingola Municipal Council!

My office wishes to congratulate Chingola Council for acquiring eight (8) new vehicles for it's members of staff using locally generated funds.

We especially congratulate His Worship the Mayor Mr. Johnson Kang'ombe, his team of councillors and management led by Mrs. Namukolo Kalufyanya for raising and managing public funds prudently in less than two years.

This is a milestone achievement because we believe that the vehicles bought will enable the local authority to improve on service delivery to the community of Chingola district. Further, the vehicles bought have provided security of tenure to council drivers particularly those who will be manning the said vehicles.

My office is also reliably informed that using the same locally generated funds, the local authority is in the process of purchasing an Earth moving machine that will alleviate challenges of community road maintenance in the district and we have every hope and trust that in future, more machinery and equipment will be acquired.

Once again congratulations Chingola Municipal Council.

NCHANGA MP TELLS KCM TO INCREASE CAUSAL WORKER'S SALARIES

Nchanga Member of Parliament Derricky Chilundika has told Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) to increase salaries for the Casual workers.

Mr Chilundika said it is sad to know that the people who are doing hard labor job are getting little money.

He said that KCM should therefore come up with a plan to gradually increase their salaries if they can’t do it at once.

Mr Chilundika who is also Luapula Province Minister said if KCM fails to increase salaries, people in he’s constituency will look at him as a failure.

The Minister said KCM should bridge the gap on the salaries of the workers unlike the current situation where management is getting colossal sums of money while casuals are getting very little.

Mr Chilundika said that the people have suffered a lot and he will not accept any excuses from the mine because he knows that the company is capable of increasing the salaries of casual workers.

He said that if the company can manage to pay managers in dollars then it is capable of paying the other employees.

And Konkola copper Mines Chief Executive officer Christopher Sheppard said the process of increments cannot be done overnight and can take up to six months but it will be done gradually.

Meanwhile the Minister also visited Kabundi clinic to check on the operations as there were complaint of bad attitude toward work by some nurses.
He said that the new government will not condemn bad attitude toward work and patients
