Police received a tip-off from a community member that led to an arrest of a wanted man who shot and killed Sasko bakery crew in Delft outside Cape Town.

The man identified as Martin Mungayi, a Zimbabwean national was spotted trying to flee to Zimbabwe and he was arrested while on a bus from Cape Town to Zimbabwe.

A community member who saw him gave information about the man and the bus he was in, and Police managed to arrest him.

Police are yet looking for another suspect who was captured on a dashcam with Martin.

"My cousin was Hijacked hours ago in Soshanguve block Uu, they took his Bakkie. He was with his son, they shot a 5year old boy!! He didn’t make it!!

Ditebogo Junior Phalane, 5, was shot dead in Soshanguve by hijackers who were targeting his father's bakkie on 10 May 2024. It is alleged that Ditebogo had gone outside his home to welcome his father home from work. A group of hijackers attacked them and shot the little boy in the process of taking his father's Toyota Hilux.
