CAPITAL SOUNDS We specialize in providing PA systems at major outdoor and indoor events. We specialise in Airshows and Racing events.

We provide commentary and sound systems for outside and indoor events throughout South Africa , Africa and, if needed, anywhere in the world. We also do sound for theatre shows and pageants.

Air Traffic Control is vital at any aviation related event. The controllers are the unsung heroes. If the Pgm is changed they have to act fast. Remain calm and sort the airspace out. I have been blessed over the years to have worked with of the finest controllers around.
One such a person is Rob Purkiss. I met him whilst I was working at the SABC. it was in 1977 whilst he did duty in the Welkom Tower. He came out to Aldam with me where I chatted to Brian Stapelford and Brian Zeederburg. This was at the EAA Convention. A huge event and my first aviation int.
Rob and I worked together on many many major events. Not only in SA but over
the border as well. I often have stated that he is one of the finest ATCs to have controlled in Africa. A voice that is such
a pleasure to listen to. Rob was a SAAF controller. Later Dept of Transport and then ATNS. Later joined the CAA. Thank you for your service to aviation Rob Purkiss. Salute.

Capital is proud to often work alongside outstanding presenters to provide expert commentary in their respective field. One such an event is the Midmar Mile which we have been the host audio broadcaster for over twenty years. The voices are of the finest one can find. Wayne Ridden is the doyen of open water swimming in Africa.
He also does a lot of ramp work. Then there is Arnie Geerdts. A pro through and through. Works in the mobile studio with me. Gavin Nesbitt is on the ramp and Martin Gee Godfrey looks after the start. This legend is not only a fine broadcaster but swims each and every year. Been doing so for over 50 years. A team one be so proud to be associated with. My friend Len Heine looks after all the Stage Audio and structures.

Sat and Sun was very busy for Capital Sounds Outside Broadcast.
Our very good friend Marius Opperman from Trio Events once again organised his very popular 4X4 Outdoor Expo. This popular event draws thousands of followers around the country. Every year it comes to the SAAF YSTERPLAAT AFB. As an add on he brings in an aviation slot which features whatever the SAAF have available. Nerve wracking to say the least as with so much happening one cannot plan a Pgm.
So this year at 99 the fast jets had to pull out due to G20. I was lucky to secure the Boeing 737 800 and the Gamebird for some brief appearance on Sunday. Both aircraft painted in Red Bull Colours.
I did some commentary on Sat and then handed over to Rodger Coetzee and Peter Bailey. These two members have many years of experiance at Capital.

At Capital we strive to give our best at each and every event we do. I was once again selected by RED BULL to be their Airborne Commentstor. This was so special as I have now done every major Red Bull event in SA. My claim to being the Voice of Red Bull.
Having a crowd of over 200,000 spectators and working with three of SAs top presenters was such a pleasure. Red Bull don’t mess around. They go big in fact very big. They pull in the best of the best. Major structures. Mega Sound and Big Screens.

Since early this morning we have had a team at a major cycling event in our city. Organised by Peter Bailey who is also a Capital Team member. He holds a position with SA Cycling as well. Our team today is Wes van Zyl and Elvis MANENE Two other team members popped in to help take photos for Peter. Now this is team work at the highest level. Each and every person helping to make the event a major success Well done to all. Great to see the NAC OB unit out and about.
