In what looks like a powerful run-up to the Tokyo Olympics, South Africa brought home a gold win at the men's 4x100m World Relays marathon in Silesia, Poland last weekend.
“We came to Poland with the idea to win a medal. And we did,” runner Akani Simbine said. A round of applause to Simbine, Thando Dlodlo, Tlotliso Gift Leotlela , and Clarence Munyai for pulling off this incredible race. We're rooting for you boys!

- OUR MUST-VISIT ART EXHIBITION THIS WEEK:

"I have always been aware of the many negative connotations surrounding the Xitsonga culture so I have always done my best to assimilate to my environment and cover up that I am Tsonga...but it has taken away from understanding my culture and how to speak the language or how I choose to perform this culture."

Identity and tribalism in have always been intertwined and extend from the personal to the political.
Set some time aside to check out artist Khanyisile Mawhayi's new exhibition running STEVENSON gallery in Cape Town. Mawhayi's collection of drawings and photographic works dives into her journey into exploring perceptions of cultural and societal belonging, and being a woman in today's age.
In our opinion, it's a mellow and almost elegiac form of storytelling, and her choice to opt for toned-down hues instead of the usually bold and vibrant Tsonga colours is refreshing and unique.

The showcase can be viewed until 26 June, 2021 at STEVENSON gallery in Woodstock.
