We were at Rambling Rose in Hoekwil on a Friday night a few weeks ago and Hunted Mike was turning the k***s and revving the crowd into a frenzy. Don't miss Rambling Rose on a Friday, it's dance night!

We were at Rambling Rose in Hoekwil on a Friday night a few weeks ago and Hunted Mike was turning the k***s and revving the crowd into a frenzy. Don't miss Rambling Rose on a Friday, it's dance night!
The iconic old power station on the N2 at Kleinbrak taken over by trees and a squatter camp. Probably the most photographed building in the Cape
We took a walk around Fransmanshoek the other day. It's a conservancy area named after a French warship that ran aground and sank in 1763. I wonder what the hell they were doing here! A lovely place to visit for a braai or picnic, no camping though. It's right next to Vleesbaai and a stone's throw from Gouritsmond. So pack the car and take a drive out there and enjoy the nature. Check the weather first though, you don't want to be stuck out there on a bad weather day like we're having now.
Buffelsbaai, a seaside village with a very strong surfing addiction. Absolute magic.
A few Sedge beauts.
Garden Route Botanical Gardens in George. Not as pristine as Kirstenbosch in Cape Town but certainly worth a visit. The forest trail is beautiful and a lovely walk through some very old vegetation. Interesting to note is the monument of Burchell. On the monument is a sketch of the Outeniqua mountains from his records meaning he camped right here when he explored this area back in 1814. He had a wagon specially built much narrower than usual to get through narrow gaps and thickets because he explored uncharted territory. Google him, he was quite a guy and it's an interesting read.
Don't forget to pop in at Birds of Prey Rehab Centre and make a donation if you can. They had some serious damage from the storms we had recently and they are trying to rebuild the bird cages.
Who's walked through the lovely Kleinkranz Village Garden? Well we went for a walk through there the other day and we ended up at Augusta for something cold and delicious. Try it sometime, it's well worth it. Cheers
The Dutch Reformed Moeder Kerk in George. Just one of the many beautiful churches in George. This one took 12years to complete due to financial problems. Apparently the foundations are 6 foot deep x 5 foot wide.
Big shout out to my newest top fans! 💎 Nelly Burrows

There's a whole lot of magic going down at Leentjies Klip in Wilderness. An artist is painting the toilet wall with a scene of Leentjies, the rocks and some fishermen. This is still a work-in-progress and every time we go there it's looking better and fuller. Check it out, this guys work is amazing.
Oh, by the way, someone else is also painting the toilet walls at the Salinas Restaurant parking area. Wilderness, what a lot we've got!
We heard that the Garden Route Birds of Prey had some damage from the recent strong winds we had in the Garden Route so we took them some shadecloth we had and got a guided tour of the place while they were rebuilding their cages which were extensively damaged. They are reaching out for any assistance or donations please.
Brandwag, a small town community with a big farming heart. Very clean and very neat. Just up the road from Mossel Bay. Looks like strawberries are the in thing here. There's even a medieval castle overlooking the town. 🍓
Some fishermen on the rocks and pier in Victoria Bay. Note in the first two pics you can see the Wilderness Beach Hotel and the Views Hotel across the bay in Wilderness.
Some beautiful scenery we encounter while travelling around visiting friends and family.
Just a few of Oudtshoorn's icons.
Mingles Pub Sedgefield, where the locals hang out. Be sure to check the last pic carefully.
Visit the amazing Outeniqua Transport Museum in George when you are anywhere in the Garden Route.
The amazing Outeniqua Transport Museum in George. A must visit when you're anywhere near the beautiful city of George in the Southern Cape.
Outeniqua Game Farm on the R328 just north of Mossel Bay. Stunning venue, lovely restaurant, in-house butchery, church service on Sundays, game drives and views that go on for ever. Definitely worth a visit again and again.
I spotted this guy having some extreme fun on a miserable day on East Beach in Port Alfred a while ago. There wasn't anyone around and it seemed strange that someone was going out in such bad weather but this guy had done this before. Hat's off to him.
Herold, small town, on top of Montagu Pass, don't miss it, chat to the locals, make friends with the local dog, walk around, familiarise yourself with the beauty and the tranquillity. Don't pass it, pull in and savour the magic.
Friday is fish & chips day at the Views Hotel in Wilderness, need I say anymore!
Nothing like a melt-in-your-mouth Prego Roll and a walk up the river at Kaaimans on a Friday when the weather's good.
A Waves Pot Pie, a sip or two of Jackson Brown, an idyllic setting, a very prolific bird life, what more could you want. Absolute paradise.
Amazing sunset yesterday after a day of warm berg winds.
The amazing Kerry Hiles telling us all about the life of the late Eva Cassidy at the Fairy Knowe Hotel with her band yesterday. Eva Cassidy was discovered posthumously after she died at 33, she was a singing talent of note with the voice of an angel. The multi talented Kerry Hiles has a strong vibrant voice and she does Eva proud with her depiction of the late star. She plays a mean bass guitar as well. The nimble Rob Thompson was equally mesmerising on lead guitar and drummer Kristo Zondagh really blew me away with an unexpected drum solo which ended off an amazing show. Thanks Misery Loves Company, you guys made my day.
A misty day at Leentjiesclip, a beach walk followed with a cold one and a pizza at Beach House Back packers. Yes man!
A different view of the lovely Slow Town of Sedgefield from the high ridge above town near where the paragliders take off. Absolutely stunning!
Some more surfing action from the recent Vic Bay Quad Surfing Competition
