Sad to hear of the passing of John Wiiams, who played for and coached both Northern Transvaal and the Springboks. He was a rugby man through and through and will be missed. RIP

We are extremely sad to hear of the sudden passing of tannie Saartjie Olivier. She is a true legend in rugby circles and the rugby community will be poorer without her presence.

I met tannie Saartjie in 2012 after I made a promise to my childhood hero, Danie Ge**er, that I will make him the best tribute dvd ever. Through the years tannie Saartjie shared boxes and boxes of videos with me and I even made her a tribute dvd of all her son Jacques' tries he scored for the Blue Bulls and the Springboks. I would spend hours with her at Loftus just talking about the history of Blue Bulls rugby. I will never forget the day she showed me the original document that was signed in 1938 that established Northern Transvaal as its own Rugby union.

We shared the same passion of keeping the history of rugby alive. We will miss you tannie Saartjie, thank you for everything and may your legacy live forever. Our condolences to oom Theuns, Jacques and the rest of the Olivier family.
