Khulumani's Voices WHY ‘KHULUMANI’S VOICES’? In Madiba’s inauguration speech, dignity and peace were central themes. The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come.

Website: http://khulumanisvoices.wordpress.com/ Khulumani’s Voices is a community journalism project of the Khulumani Support Group in South Africa aimed at recording stories that fall outside of the ‘mainstream’ media channels. Coming from a situation of war and conflict, we wanted to move into a new space. Madiba’s speech reflected the dreams and
hopes of ordinary South Africans who wanted a soc

iety that is vibrant, that is unified, self-healing. Khulumani Interactors pursue this dream of a society that is equal, free from violence, and values human dignity.

“The time for the healing of the wounds has come. The time to build is upon us. We have, at last, achieved our political emancipation. We pledge ourselves to liberate all our people from the continuing bo***ge of poverty, deprivation, suffering, gender and other discrimination.” - Nelson Mandela, 10 May 1994
