Masango: A Munga Story is a story of a young Zulu mountain bike rider from Quasemane in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.

In December 2020 Sithembiso Masango took part in his 5th The Munga Race across the semi-desert heartland of South Africa.

The Munga is a 1 000 kilometers semi-supported mountain bike race that takes place during summer. The terrain is rugged, dry and dusty and the weather can be extremely hot.

It is a single-stage event with riders having to make do with only a few water points on the route. Founded by Alex Harris, the event aims to push riders to their limits over a few days.

Sithembiso tells his story of hardships, starting out in cycling, his inspiration and ultimately what cycling has taught him.

He is a team member of Change a Life Academy who invests in and supports disadvantaged young people in rural communities to better their lives through sport.

This is a story of overcoming all the obstacles of being a disadvantaged, black cyclist and applying the lessons learned through cycling in his own life.

At the end of 2020 we accompanied a very special and inspiring person on his The Munga Adventure. Sithembiso Masango is a development rider in the Change a Life Academy, run by Martin Dreyer.
Sithembiso took us on an epic adventure through the heart of Mzanzi during summer and taught us what it takes to succeed in The Munga and life. To get up again and again and keep on pushing towards your goals.

This is just a taste of the short documentary that will be released in July 2021.
