Waited 24 hours so the noise could settle down after the “middle school playground behavioral failure event” to give respect and shine a big fat spotlight on an achievement that should be a HUGE source of pride in the drum community.

Not an actor/producer who played drums in high school plus morse-coding “drunk wipeout” at two family weddings.

A career professional drummer— a LIFER!— won the Oscar. (The third time! Ringo in 1971 and Phil Collins in 2000). It’s just an incredible accomplishment.

For the 2010 World Cup, hosted by my home country, I got the call to perform in the awesome Black Label ‘Hands’ advert. It was a crazy experience to be featured twice as talent on camera (the editor was as surprised as I was 😜) and I’ll always remember it as a special experience.

Working with Ogilvy, director Keith Rose and the team of film professionals from a completely different echelon of the creative industry was a dream but mostly because the inspiration for that role was from Queen’s drummer, Roger Taylor (OBE).

He of-course was the original drummer who created the perennial drum beat from ‘We Will Rock You’, and many others. In this (my first🤩) DRUM TUTORIAL, I bring that beautiful beat to life and share some basics for any beginner drummers out there!
