Actress and Human Rights Advocate Regina Mary Ndlovu Calls on US Embassy to Aid in Providing 100% Sunscreen to Persons with Albinism in Africa

South Africa - Climate change is killing persons with albinism through skin cancer, and actress and human rights advocate Regina Mary Ndlovu knows this firsthand. After two successful operations to remove basal-cell superficial skin cancer and skin cancer carcinoma from her chest and ear, Regina is calling on the US embassy to help provide 100% sunscreen to people with albinism in Africa.

Currently, the South African government provides only 30% sunscreen, which is not nearly enough to protect against the harmful effects of climate change. Regina Mary is requesting a cry out to human rights advocates, donors, and private sectors to come forth and support with any means of donation. This could include sunscreen, umbrellas, hats, and clothes with 100% sunscreen to promote awareness for persons with albinism.

In an effort to further promote awareness, Regina Mary plans to produce a documentary titled My Skin." My Voice This documentary will shed light on the challenges faced by persons with albinism and the urgent need for 100% sunscreen in Africa.

The film highlights the importance of early detection and treatment of skin cancer, and sheds light on a lesser-known aspect of the disease. Regina's story is interwoven with the voices of persons with albinism who speak out on the need for protection from an early age. The documentary also features the work of the national albinism taskforce, which is developing an action plan to improve the health sector's response to albinism.

UNITED ALBINISM MARCH TO THE OFFICE OF THE PREMIER

The Albinism Non Profit Organizations will engage in the peaceful Public March demonstration in Johannesburg to highlight their plights and challenges to the Office of the Premier.

The group will make official demands to the Premier of Gauteng to bring an end to Albinism killings, stigma, marginalization, segregation and exclusion facing Persons with Albinism in Gauteng.

The march will be in collaboration with different civil society movements and formations that will render their messages of support, fostering unity and building socially inclusive and cohesive communities for all.
