It is over a large scape, by means that it is open to anything with regards to music as an art, hence” the Hollows” would be described as a place that allows no boundaries to showcase music in a raw and honest form. Radio has become to finite in terms of its content, and what we mean by this is that radio has become very predictable and its content as such is being broadcast within a comfortable m
eans of control, to which reaches the listeners ears. Our radio segment idea is a simple but very intuitive concept: which simply is exposing listeners to what music in general has to offer. Simply put, to expose listeners to music that is not generic, hence showing them that music is infinite and that there is more music out there waiting to be heard. In South Africa, radio emphasises playing music that the people appeal to, which is profitable, hence this venture is taken, however, that is why with the student radio, that generates no means of income, will allow a platform for listeners, whom just want to listen to good music, can be exposed to more music in a new way. It will be based on broadcasting experimental takes on music, but within the listening means of generic genres. There are many underground artist that produce high quality music because they simply make it for the love of music (as the music broadcasted will be free music only), as they don’t have a following, so their motivation is the passion, for the music, and that’s what I want to bring to the listeners tuned in. I want to bring music that is passionate and is true to feeling and hence allowing people to be exposed to new emotions and broaden their take of what music is, as the boundaries of genres prevent any means of finding something different and new that is also appealing, all three of which is a rarity in this field of music. The show will run various segments which will showcase various concepts within the show itself, allowing a dynamic that will keep listeners interested, as there will always be something new shown. The main theme of the radio show though will be playing entirely free music, with downloadable links to be posted after each show with the track listing.
