EMM - Extreme Model Management Extreme Model Management is one of the top Modeling Agency's and the biggest Model Academy in KZN.

Since 2006 our motto is to bring out the best in each person, teaching each one what their strengths are, how to recognize and deal with their weaknesses, and to use it to the best of their ability. Students do not just learn the tools to be a great model but most of all they learn to become confident, well adjusted young people. We proved that we are much more than just another model academy. We prepare our models well, making them stand out in any crowd!

The Power of Believing in a Cause

Having a cause gives you purpose, drives action, and helps create positive change. It allows you to serve your community, build character, and grow empathy by understanding and supporting others. Believing in something bigger than yourself fuels hope for a better future and inspires others to take action.

The Importance of Raising Awareness

Change begins with awareness. By spreading the word—through social media, events, and conversations—you educate and inspire others to get involved. Awareness turns an individual passion into a collective movement.

Here are some interesting facts and statistics about breast cancer:

1. Men Can Get It Too – While rare, men can also develop breast cancer, accounting for about 1% of all cases.

2. Pink Ribbon Power – The pink ribbon became the official symbol of breast cancer awareness in 1992.

3. Ancient Disease – Breast cancer has been documented since Ancient Egypt (around 3000 B.C.).

4. Lifestyle Can Help – Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and limiting alcohol can lower the risk of breast cancer.

5. Most Common Cancer in Women – Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women worldwide.

6. 1 in 8 Women – About 1 in 8 WOMEN will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - GAIN KNOWLEDGE!

Regular check-ups are extremely important for detecting breast cancer early, which significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.

Why Get Checked?

Early Detection Saves Lives – When detected early, breast cancer has a high survival rate (up to 99% for localized cases).

Some Cases Have No Symptoms – You may not feel a lump or notice any changes, but screenings can detect cancer before symptoms appear.

Higher Risk Groups Need Extra Attention – If you have a family history of breast cancer or genetic mutations (BRCA1/BRCA2), screenings are even more critical.

HOW BREAST CANCER SCREENING WORKS:

There are three main ways to check for breast cancer:

1. Self-Exams (At Home, Monthly)

Best done a few days after your period ends.

Feel for lumps, changes in size, shape, or texture.

Look for skin dimpling, ni**le discharge, or redness.

If anything feels unusual, consult a doctor.

2. Clinical Breast Exams (At the Doctor’s Office, Yearly or as Needed)

A healthcare provider will manually check for lumps or abnormalities.

Often done during routine check-ups.

3. Mammograms (X-Ray of the Breast, Every 1-2 Years Depending on Age & Risk)

Recommended for women 40 and older (or earlier if high risk).

Can detect tumors before they can be felt.

Some cases may require ultrasound or MRI for further evaluation.

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMETHING IS FOUND?

1. Follow-Up Tests – If a lump or abnormal area is found, further imaging (ultrasound, MRI) or a biopsy (tissue sample) may be needed.

2. Diagnosis – If cancer is detected, the doctor will determine the stage and best treatment options.

3. Treatment – Depending on the type and stage, treatment may include **surgery, chemotherapy, radiation.

In South Africa, there are several organizations dedicated to providing support for individuals affected by breast cancer. Here are some resources you can reach out to:

These organizations offer various forms of support, including support groups, counselling services, educational resources, and assistance with medical needs. Reaching out to them can provide valuable assistance and a sense of community during your journey.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Breast cancer awareness is a cause that lies at the very heart of Extreme Model Management (EMM), as the foundation of our academy was built on resilience, passion, and the unwavering spirit of our Director and Head Model Coach, Adélle Botes.

Amid one of her toughest battles—fighting breast cancer—Adélle remained a beacon of positivity and love. She embraced every moment with faith and grace, always giving, always serving.

In 2006, with the unwavering support of her family, she turned her biggest dream into reality and opened the doors of the EMM Academy—a place where aspiring models could learn, grow, and feel safe.

Having kicked cancer’s butt, Adélle poured her heart into building an academy that would empower others, instill confidence, and teach invaluable life skills. From the youngest child to those with years of wisdom, EMM has touched thousands of lives, growing stronger every year.

Adélle’s journey is a testament to the power of courage, perseverance, believing in your dreams, and holding onto God—no matter the obstacles.

Here’s to strength, hope, and a future where no one fights alone.

EMM SHOWCASE THEME 2025 - FASHION WITH A PURPOSE!

You'll see this theme portrayed throughout the year, in many of the EMM challenges and lessons.

Starting with our first Photo Challenge of the year where each of our students had the opportunity to choose a cause close to their hearts to raise awareness for.

I personally were extremely excited for this challenge, as it helps teach our students how to be vulnerable through creativity. They learn to think outside of the box, how to plan a shoot, from their styling, to their poses, to their make-up and their features. They had to to dig deep to find what cause they want to support, something that's going to challenge them to be aware of their surroundings. They had to do research on statistics, to better their chance of being one of the selected causes to raise awareness for at EMM throughout the year. They had to put a presentation together, and learn to speak up for what's close to their heart - a core value that's tools are being sharpened and passion sparked.

We as EMM coaches live by the saying of "Lead By Example"

Our Photo Challenges is the gas to my flame! I live for these moments!

Not only getting to do the challenge myself, and test out the layout, as well as practice posing, movement and facial expressions.

But, I get to watch our students come alive! Both in front of the camera, and in front of their peers. They overcome fears, and become a voice bold enough to be heard.

They become aware of their surroundings, having empathy, sharing kindness with others, being gentler to themselves, feeling safer to speak up, to heal past traumas... To love themselves... Even their broken pieces.

They start to stand taller, walking purposefully, smiling! They find support in their extended family at EMM, they start to heal, and grow. Eager to learn, and live with hope.

These Photo Challenges are more than just taking photos... These are valuable life lessons being taught, opportunities being created, and testimonies being shared.

I see you.
I'm glad you're still here.
If you need to talk,
I'm just a message away.
If you need to just sit,
I'll sit with you.
Just know...

YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Extreme Model Management

Extreme Model Managements was established in Durban KZN, in 2006 by the founder Adelle Botes. After seeing a lack of training and professionalism, She decided to start a small academy – going back to basics. The Academy quickly grew to 5 different branches in Durban greater area and on the South Coast. The core of EMM is training. Not one model gets signed by our agency without first being trained and groomed in the Model Academy.

EMM has an excellent track record for the best customer satisfaction. We do not compromise on the quality and the services provided to a client.

EMM strives to meet every client’s requirements. We believe in open communication and meeting with clients to find out exactly what is required. We are continuously adding new and fresh faces to our agency, thus if we know exactly what is needed we scout and find the faces which meet our various clients need.

It’s no secret, the fashion marketplace is increasingly familiar. The same talent used repeatedly. The same faces endorsing different products. No new opportunities to carve out an identity or uniqueness for the clients brand.
