NOTICE OF SERVER UPGRADE
Farewell, Faithful Server! We are upgrading to awesomer horizons!
Dear valued clients,
Get ready for an exciting upgrade! We're bidding farewell to our trusty (and slightly out-dated) web hosting server and migrating all accounts to a brand new, state-of-the-art server.
While our old server ‘served’ us valiantly, it's time to embrace the future! This upgrade will bring you a significantly improved website experience.
The target migration period will be between the 10th and 20th of April.
Account data will be migrated as tested first. Once ready, we will simply update the IP address which will bring your website and email services live on the new server.
The switch will be done after hours / overnight so brief downtime periods should go mostly unnoticed.
During this transition window, you may experience temporary interruptions. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we make this move.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
• SSL security errors may show on your website during SSL certificate propagation. This usually resolves within an hour or less.
• You might encounter short periods of downtime as the new IP address registers on all networks, worldwide.
• Email may have intermittent syncing issues and there is a possibility of receiving duplicate emails.
• Once complete, you'll enjoy a faster, more secure, and stable website experience!
WHAT NOT TO DO:
NB: If you need to do website updates or maintenance, please let me know beforehand and we will let you know when to go-ahead.
WHY WE'RE MIGRATING:
The current (old) server hardware is not compatible with the latest default software (PHP), and it experiences occasional downtime.
Scalable and future-proof - this brand new server will include shiny new hardware, lots of RAM, boost website performance, enhance security, and have an up-to-date operating system and software.
This means increased uptime and you can expect a smoother, more reliable experience on our website.
A SEAMLESS TRANSITION:
Our team is working diligently to ensure a smooth migration and minimize any disruption. We'll be closely monitoring the process throughout.
DEDICATED AND MANAGED:
As with the current server, the new server will be a 'managed' dedicated server with Afrihost - only it will be newer and better. 'Managed' means the server will enjoy 24/7 monitoring and receive priority support.
