Renowned isanusi and author Credo Mutwa has died at the age of 98. This was announced by the Credo Mutwa Foundation on Wednesday morning.

Born Vusamazulu Credo Mutwa, the healer was respected country-wide.

In 2018 he was honoured with an USIBA award presented by the department of arts and culture for his for his work in Indigenous Wisdom. His most recent work is a graphic novel called the Tree of Life Trilogy based on his writings of his most famous book, Indaba my Children.

He called himself isanusi meaning a sangoma. "Africa has lost one of its finest sons whose contribution to our country and continent remains immeasurable," ANC spokesperson P**e Mabe said. "He devoted most of his energy towards preserving African culture and challenging the tendency to relegate African cultural practices and beliefs to myths and superstitions. "The once vibrant storyteller and traditional healer is respected for his role in advocating for the use of traditional medicines and discovering the origins of mankind." Mutwa was well known and will be remembered for his predictions, including the assassination of SA Communist Party (SACP) leader Chris Hani, and the 1976 uprisings, Mabe added.

Coronavirus has taken football fraternity into a standstill in Italy

Just days after all Serie A matches in Italy were suspended as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, the Premier League calendar has now suffered its first casualty after a high-profile fixture was postponed

Manchester City's clash against Arsenal, which was scheduled to be played on Wednesday night, has become the first English top-flight fixture to be postponed amid fears surrounding the spread of the coronavirus.

This, according to the Daily Mirror, follows after Olympiakos and Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis tested positive for the Covid-19 strand earlier in the week – just days after he had been present at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will play their first match after 14 days, if they are declared medical fit to play

Ladysmith Black Mambazo founder, Joseph Shabalala, 78, died on Tuesday morning at Life Eugene Marais in Pretoria, group manager Xolani Majozi confirmed.

Majozi said Shabalala was with his wife, Thokozile Shabalala, during his last moments. The group (Ladysmith Black Mambazo) is on tour in the US. Majozi said Shabalala's family would issue an official statement later in the day.
