Congratulations Amanzimtoti High School 🎉🎉 We attended the gala evening and thoroughly enjoyed the show, the supper theatre setting and the heart-warming tribute to Mrs Lemmer at the end... To the cast, well done, it was great to see some amazing budding local talent 🎭👌🏻

It’s time to tartan up because the Highland Gathering is back!

After a two-year hiatus, Amanzimtoti will once again transform itself into the Scottish moors as kilted bagpipers, dancers and singers arrive for the 59th Highland Gathering. The event takes place at Hutchison Park on Saturday, 30 April from 9am, bringing back to the line-up some old favourites as well as exciting new additions.

New to the event are the DJ Tent (from where popular ECR DJ, Dave Guselli will oversee the day’s proceedings) and Performing Stage for those wanting to catch top-class local performances. Don’t miss teen singing sensation, Keely Crocker, who made a name for herself at the Federation of Performing Arts in New York, and the Mr and Miss Highland Gathering beauty pageant which takes place from 1pm, with registration from 11.30am to 12.15pm. Hopeful competitors can enter in a number of age categories at a cost of R80 per entry. To enter, email [email protected].

For the hungry, there’s Food Corner loaded with a range of delicious, home-made goods that can be enjoyed in the shaded seating area. The Highland Gathering is also adding to the ‘green theme’ this year by welcoming on board NPO, the Clean Surf Project, who will be collecting recyclable material throughout the event and promoting environmentally friendly practices.

Also on the programme for this year’s Highland Gathering are steel drums, Rhythmic Dance Studio, Toti Hillbillies Line Dancing, Double Beat Drum Studio, Kidz Zone, a fashion show, arts and crafts, car dealers, pipers, bar tents … and more!

Tickets to the Highland Gathering will be available at the venue (they’re R50 for adults and R30 pensioners/scholars) and all funds raised will be donated to the local community through a number of charitable Amanzimtoti Lions initiatives. There is secure parking via various gates at Hutchison park for R20 a car.
