Megan Davel, 23 years old, born in Johannesburg 🇿🇦 - and newest member to the Snag team!💙

A little background about today’s author - Megan worked in Sydney, Australia for a year when she was 19 and that's when her interest in hospitality first sparked and the possibility it brings for working all over the world 🌍.

Megan completed an internship in Park Rotana Abu Dhabi, and then went on to do training in sales.

Since returning to South Africa, she has been eager to go work in a new country. Having completed a TEFL course, she hopes to go work in Japan or China in the new year.

My favourite part about being a young, professional woman in the industry is that I can challenge the outdated norms that are still present, and hopefully make a change for other women too.

Courtney Geyser is a 22 year old aspiring hotelier from Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal and has written this week's article. She graduated from Stenden South Africa with a BCom Hospitality Management cm laude.

Courtney completed an internship at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa where she worked in the wedding and events department. She was also given the opportunity to assist the hotel with ideas for their social media platforms. She said that she absolutely loved every moment of it.

Courtney is an independent and hardworking young woman and aspires to do great things!

She says that hospitality is such a rewarding industry to be a part of, where you are able to meet people from across the globe and leave a lasting impression on their stay.

Jana has graduated with a BA in Tourism Management from NHL Stenden and will start her Masters in International Business and Marketing Management at Oxford Brookes University in September.

Amanda was born in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 She studied at Stenden South Africa, has worked at My Pond Hotel, The Royal Livingstone Anantara, and is currently completing an internship in rooms division at Cresta Sprayview Hotel in Victoria Falls.🌠

Although she has been impacted by the effects of COVID-19, she is working on some personal projects like writing a novel and a few hospitality business projects.📚 We can't wait to find out more about this.😁

Women's Day in South Africa draws attention to issues such as sexual harassment, domestic violence, unequal pay, and many more violations that are still affecting women today.🇿🇦

This month is used to draw attention, to protest and fight for the equal rights and treatment of all women in our society. ✨

Snag will be publishing only women-based content for the whole month of August to show that we respect and support the women of South Africa, as well as the rest of the world.🌍

We cannot live in a world where women are not treated as equals.💙

23-year-old Nico Qiu is our interview subject today.🎉
Nico grew up in East London, South Africa, and has a Chinese heritage that he is very proud of.🌍

He was originally going to study Mechanical Engineering but felt that it wasn't a good fit. After working at a fine-dining restaurant in Port Elizabeth it became clear to him that hospitality would be a well-suited career.🍍

Nico says that the best part about the industry is providing excellent service and being able to leave the customers with a smile on the face.🌠

Tayla Miller is our interview subject this week.🎉

Tayla is originally from a small town in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.🌍 She was initially studying agriculture before she made the change to study hospitality management at NHL Stenden, and is now working in Europe on a Superyacht.🌠

Tayla says some of her best experiences involve meeting guests from different cultures and countries as it gives her the opportunity to learn more about the world.💛

She is currently traveling from Tarragona to Palma, and then to Sardina.🇪🇸 🇮🇹
