Here are some advice on how to search for a job:

1. Finding a job in SA is like a job in itself - every day from 8am to 1pm search for jobs (try Google, Bing, LinkedIn, CareerJunction, Job Crystal, PNET, Best Jobs, Gumtree, Indeed ... there are LOTS of job boards and many companies only use 1 so yes go through all of them).

2. To save your sanity offer to work at a charity for free to get some experience in something (and to do some good - no use sitting around waiting).

3. Reach out on LinkedIn to everyone you can find in your industry and ask if they know of something (or offer them to work for free to get some experience).

4. Start your own thing (if you can) - There is so many incubators and help out there for a start-up company.

5. Sign up on job boards (list above) and register your CV and ensure your LinkedIn is done and up to date (and showing you are looking)

JOB PURPOSE:
Our business product offering has grown significantly over the years which has led to the development of the face-to-face distribution channel. To facilitate this model the positions of Commercial Agents (Face to Face) have emerged. The incumbent of this newly created position will be responsible for growing and developing the business insurance portfolio.

KEY OUTPUTS:

Client service and management

The Commercial Agent: Face to Face Distribution must align itself with the company culture and values of Awesome Service, Passionate, Honest, Human, Dynamic, and Recognition.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential:
Completed Matric or National Senior Certificate;
60 FAIS credits/Full Insurance Qualifications (depending on DOFA);
For applicants that have been working in a financial services industry prior to December 2010, preference will be given to applicants with their Financial Services Board Regulatory Exams (RE1) completed. Applicants without prior financial services sales experience will not be prejudiced by this requirement;
If you worked in the financial services industry prior to December 2011, selling and providing financial advice to clients. You would need to have completed the 30 FAIS credits necessary for personal lines or 60 FAIS credits for commercial insurance

Requirements:
Must have your own reliable transport;
Valid code B driver’s license;
2 years of insurance external sales experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build your own insurance portfolio by:
- Being able to prospect for new clients through networking, Cold calling, and door – door canvasing for new business;
- Effective communication with both internal stakeholders and clients;
- Conduct a comprehensive risk evaluation for the client;
- Providing solutions to clients by selling short term products aligned to the needs of the client;
- Drafting, tracking, and measurement of your personal business plan.
Providing on-going service and support to your individual client base (amendments, renewals, claims, etc.);
Retention of existing business including renewal discussion in line with FAIS;
Developing internal/external relationships with clients;
Continuous building of your client base hence securing future income;
Keeping abreast with the commercial insurance market changes and developments;
Achieving/Exceeding targets consistently;
Providing feedback to line management when requested;
Attending all weekly and ad-hoc team meetings;
Working closely with internal stakeholders that is, underwriting/actuarial, claims as well as surveying;
Adhering to all quality standards and measures in place.
