The new Wine Emporium on the first floor is a must see and must do in Stellenbosch this season. Owners, Dax, and Irene Hunt did not only envisioned the new Root44 – a state of the art building, where traders can have a more permanent stand, but also recently launched the first floor offering of the building. The first-floor hosts offerings for the cultured person with a keen interest in wine, art, and good food. There are no vendors on the first floor, and instead it is a curated space driven by Dax and Irene themselves. Surrounded by a well-designed structure and stylish interior, it boasts an art gallery, sport’s bar, oyster bar, coffee shop, restaurant and most importantly a wine shop and tasting room that showcases local wines and also gives guests a tasting experience of an array of Stellenbosch wines. The first floor of Root44, and specifically The Wine Emporium is the ideal landing pad for the first-time visitor to Stellenbosch that has limited time to get a bird’s eye view of what the region offers in wine. It is the place where exploration and discovery are key, and that might just lead the wine farms’ next big fan to them after a remarkable tasting experience at Root44.

Join the parade for Garden Town Stellenbosch Kick-off Thursday 20 October 2022.

Come celebrate the start of Garden Town Stellenbosch on Thursday 20 October 2022. “Floralise” yourself for the Flower Parade through Stellenbosch CBD. Dress-up in a flower theme or buy/make a flower crown at our pop-up Flower Shop at the Braak, Stellenbosch (from 16:00). Then join the crowd for a carnival-style Flower Parade starting at the Braak at 18:00. The parade is a short 30 min walk through Stellenbosch town centre (including historic Church and Plein Street). Walk on the festive beat of drumlines, majorettes and minstrels. The parade will finish at the Braak from where you can attend the Garden Soiree (pop-up wine tasting event) at the beautiful Voorgelegen Garden in Blom Street at 19:00. Get ready for Garden Town Stellenbosch...
It’s time for Garden Town Stellenbosch from 20 – 30 October 2022. Inspired by the world-famous flower festival of Girona, Spain, will encompass everything from horticultural tours to flower art; dining to hiking; and, guest garden specialists, all in a majestic setting. DIY vegetable gardening, wine tasting, painting, guided bird walks, wreath crafting, moss educationals, honey sensory analysis and much more – it’s all on the programme this year. During the festival, the Stellenbosch CBD will be decorated with a flower theme and prominent installations. As with last year’s event, colourful floral displays will be added to public spaces in Bird Street. Look out for cars, bicycles, a Harley Davidson motorcycle and trolley adorned with flowers and on display around town.
