The Bass Challenge 2025 Leg 1 🌬️🌬️🌬️

After facing some of the most treacherous wind and wave conditions ever while fishing, Team AA managed to pull through with a 4th Place on the day out of 36 teams, missing out on a podium by 100g and 1st by 500g 💨💨💨

Due to the high gusts and constant winds, we lost 3 hours of fishing time, taking cover and waiting out the storm which also meant our spot from the pre fish, where we absolutely smashed the fish, got extremely murky in terms of water clarity and threw us a bit of a curveball on the day, but we persisted and stuck to our game plan 💥💥

Alhamdulilah, onwards and upwards 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

Looking forward to what the rest of the season has in store for us 💪🏽💪🏽

DISA Day 2 started with an absolute BANG, as I hooked into this behemoth 3.45kg UNIT, whilst speed cranking some offshore structure in hopes of finding a staging prespawner (like this big mama).

By far the fattest bass I’ve caught in my life. A bass as girthy as this one definitely deserves a post of its own.

BIG GIRLS NEED LOVE TOO ❤️

Love it when a plan comes together 🤝 s/o to Cpt Salmo for maintaining boat position for me in some windy conditions, while I worked the offshore structure.

GLIDE BAIT PERSONAL BEST 🇯🇵🔥

Entering the elusive 4kg club has always been a goal of mine. Doing it with a glide bait, at my favorite dam, with my bro , surpassed my wildest dreams. A new PB coming in at 4.2kg.

This mega bass inhaled my G-FLAG 150 soft glide bait with ease, absolutely choking the swimbait in the process. An absolute sight to behold and a panic filled fight that ensued. Net skills on point bro 💪 Core memory unlocked!

Super chuffed as this is my first swimbait fish, and have been wanting one for ages!
The entire gear setup was purchased from and is as follows:

WINTER PB❄️

We had some incredibly tough days out on the water over the past two weekends. Losing a bus Smallie at the kickboat (after shaking a treble off) had me almost not sleeping over the past week!

We decided to head back today with some gear reinforcements/adjustments and they paid off! (Braid to treble, instead of the standard split ring.) This small adjustment allowed us to capitalize on the few bites had in very tough conditions.

Super stoked to get my new Smallmouth PB at 1.91kg. 5 bites over the past two weekends with only 3 fish to show. Perseverance pays off.

G Loomis Bladed Jig Rod made easy work of this powerful bronzie, a great lipless rod alternative.

The Swimbait master 🔥

DRT Tiny Klash offers a swimbait that is hard to beat in terms of versatility and catchability.

NEW YEAR, NEW WATERS 🎣

A very long but rewarding drive for the boys out to test some new Western Cape waters. Tough conditions fishing in 40 degree heat on day 1 followed by a very chilly Sunday morning.

No real pattern, but some slabs were caught on glide baits, swimjigs, Yamamoto Fat Senkos, frogs and squarebill cranks. 🔥
