Seshego hospital discharged the mother and the baby with open wouds they encountered during delivery

Seshego Hospital under Polokwane Municipality in Limpopo Province is at it once again.

On the 12th of October 2023, a female patient was admitted at Seshego hospital to give birth. Allegedly, she was under intense pain and was rushed to theatrical for emergency caesarian section delivery.

According to the mother, she had to wait two days after delivery to bond with her newborn. When the baby was finally brought to her, she noticed that the baby had a cut on its cheek and on the thigh. The management of the hospital discharged the mother and the baby with open wouds they encountered during delivery. The hospital also told the family to write a formal complaint for them to launch investigations and, if possible, charge whoever is responsible for that painful ordeal.

According to Conty Lebepe Foundation, the hospital failed to adhere to Batho Pele principles like :

1. Providing information to the patient.

2. Redress - failed to identify quickly and accurately and explain how to remedy the situation.

3. Openness and Transparency - they were never open from the word "go after realising that they failed to deliver the child safely."

We therefore plead with MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba to intervene in this regard. We can't allow unskilled health personnel to risk with the lives of our patients .

Whoever is responsible for the bogus delivery of the poor child must be brought to book
