MIRANDA COETZEE MAKES NORTH WEST PROUD AT OLYMPICS

North West’s own Miranda Coetzee delivered a stellar performance at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, making her hometown incredibly proud.

After placing fourth in her initial heat with a time of 51.58 on Monday, the 5th of August 2024, Coetzee returned with a vengeance on Tuesday, the 6th August 2024.

Competing in lane 8, she secured second place in Heat 2 of the repechage round, achieving a new personal best of 50.66.

Although she finished eighth in the semi-finals on Wednesday evening, 7th of August 2024, at 21:00, running in lane 3 with a time of 51.60, her impressive showing has garnered widespread admiration and support from her community.

Miranda Coetzee is not just an outstanding athlete; she is also a dedicated mother to a Laerskool Vastrap pupil. Her journey continues to inspire many in North West and beyond.

RUGBY SCHOOL TEAMS MET IN WOLMARANSSTAD

WOLMARANSSTAD - Hoërskool Wolmaransstad met Vryburg's 1st XV rugby team in Wolmaransstad

The match got underway. Wolmaransstad Hoërskool met with Schoonspruit . The boys won 48/7 against Schoonspruit. The team on weekend made it's management proud by super mega achievement

Rugby is one of the most famous sport in private high schools

The school has sent massages of congratulations to the team

• As women commemorate their month to highlight the plight victims face, the Maquassi Hills women took to the streets to demand justice for the victims of GBV-F, a scourge that slowly sleeps away the moral fibre of society. In the most recent weeks the Maquassi Hills community experienced the brutal assassination of women by criminal elements and to the dismay of the people as perpetrators galavant through the same streets. Residents say there's no hope of restorative justice for the victims and the mourning families."Our society is so obnoxious to the failures of both the courts and the police to harmonize the situation and bring the perpetrators to book" - Concerned community

• MEC of Transport in North West pleads with motorists after another crash towards Wolmaransstad. One person has died and the other one survived with critical injuries, when a freight truck rolled over on the N12 outside Klerksdorp towards Wolmaranstad in the early hours of Saturday, 03 August. This comes after the truck collided with a vehicle coming the opposite direction when it allegedly turned infront of the truck causing the collision. Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Wessels Morweng sent a message of condolences to the family of the deceased and wished speedy recovery to the who survived with injuries. "We need our motorists to be vigilant at all times and more particularly those traveling at night" - Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Wessels Morweng

• The District Development Model - DDM cluster departments in Maquassi Hills, led by the Department of Social Development and all stakeholders ventured into addressing FET phase learners from various secondary schools in the Maquassi Hills Municipality into what constitutes a brighter future and the importance of saving our republic from the deep of gangsterism and criminality by initiating learners and the youth into the "Being Cool" phenomenon that seeks to attach the youth into criminality groups and gangs that tends to destroy their future

• The Office of the Mayor of Maquassi Hills had reported to the residents of the Municipality that water supply will be restored households. The Municipality said, the decision to restore water in parts of Maquassi Hills came as a result of talks between them and Magalies Water Board as well as other provincial government stakeholders. Residents in various parts of the Municipality experienced water supply cuts due to the maintenance the service provider was under. The Mayor of Maquassi Hills Mzwandile Feliti had recently apologized to the residents for the continued water cuts experienced due to the said pipeline maintenance. The Mayor reported that some of the underground pipes had to undergo maintenance due their bursts & ageing

• The Maquassi Hills Municipality upgrades the gravel road in Trotsville to paving blocks. The Municipality said, internal roads and storm water units had been finalised and amongst others, the street under construction is at 90% completion. The local municipality prouds itself for hard work they are implemention. "We are reporting to give our community on heads up of a number of projects that we are doing outside tendering but using the skill that we've disposed of to EPWP participants and our staff, this tells a positive story towards us doing more of this works
