Update on the apprehension of five perpetrators involved in the theft of funds at Muhlanguleni Primary School last week

On Monday, February 26, instructor Makumire, teacher Nikolas, and three other Muhlanguleni residents appeared in front of Chikombedzi Magistrate Court for attempting to steal money by breaking into the school safe.

Unverified information indicated that two professors were able to post bond, while the others remained incarcerated.
Upon returning from court, instructor Nikolas and his colleague were rejected by the school officials and the community. They were instructed to relocate from Muhlanguleni Primary School to different schools.

In Muhlanguleni, a total of five Cholera cases have been detected, which has prompted officials to take action to prevent the spread of the water-borne disease. As a result, gatherings have been prohibited, and Bacos Business will remain closed tomorrow.

Bacos Business Area in Muhlanguleni is a thriving hub for trading on Thursdays, attracting people from across the region. However, the lack of adequate sanitation facilities and clean drinking water is a significant concern. The toilets and the current borehole are in disrepair and appear to be outdated.

Despite the potential to generate over a million rand per day and provide substantial revenue for the council, it appears that the Chiredzi Rural District Council has been neglecting the area.

Councilor Urombo Makolo of Chikombedzi Ward 11 refuted accusations of his involvement in distributing residential land at Chikombedzi Residential area.

After receiving complaints from residents of Chikombedzi, Tihlo Ra le Hlengweni News approached the ward councilor Urombo Makolo to provide a detailed explanation about the concerns raised in his ward.

He informed us that on February 9, 2024, the local authorities convened a meeting that was attended by all residents of Ward 11.

They assembled at Matende Borehole, under the authority of Headman Hayisa. The Minister of Lands discussed Communal Lands, and the responsibilities of Village heads, and criticized the illegal practice of village chiefs selling land and requesting money. He cautioned that village leaders should not demand money from the residents regarding land issues. He also mentioned that these unlawful practices are exacerbated by individuals migrating from other areas who offer money to village leaders in return for favors, leading to a situation where selling land becomes common.

The demolition of all unauthorized structures on council property was scheduled to be completed by February 10, but the council halted the operation and postponed it for further consideration.

Makolo lamented that most residents living in the designated area did not participate in the meeting. The attendees are residents from the designated areas, such as Maguhu Village, Zimba Village, Kufa Village, Mavembe Village, Hayisa Village, Kayela Village, Hasani Chauke Village, and Matadi Village. The communities span a 3-kilometer radius in the Chikombedzi area.

Two days later, Chief Mupapa summoned all residents residing on the council's designated territory to his traditional court, along with Councillor Makolo from the ward, to speak to them. He elucidated everything to them.

An incident occurred on February 9, 2014, where a false rumor spread in the neighborhood at night, leading to fear among the inhabitants who began destroying their structures. The villagers were not instructed to dismantle their structures since we were all waiting for guidance from the central office.

Makolo stated that people contacted him at night inquiring about rumors of someone intending to destroy their structures. Despite Makolo's assurance that no one was planning to do so, the individuals disregarded his words and proceeded to demolish their own buildings.

He refuted the accusations of his involvement in the distribution of the land.

Roy Bhila has been alive for 44 years this month. It was indeed a great day. Belated birthday wishes, Bhila!

Roy Bhila, a politician born in Chipinge, who has been the Member of Parliament for Chiredzi North since 2018, celebrated his 44th birthday two days ago.

Bhila, born on February 25, 1980, became the first Chiredzian politician to hold a ministerial position but was demoted in less than 2 months. President Munagagwa named Bhila as the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce in September 2023, however Bhila was dismissed on 30 November 2023 for reasons that were not publicized, perhaps due to internal conflicts within the Chiredzi politics. Bhila is reported to be keeping his plans secret and is expected to regain his post soon.

Bhila formerly served as the secretary-general of the Commercial Sugarcane Farmers Association (CFAZ). In 2017, he was accused of unilaterally firing the administrator in order to obtain full control of the association. Additionally, Bhila was accused of obtaining excessive daily allowances. Bhila defended himself, stating that his acts were acceptable, and he was entitled to a daily fuel stipend for his employment. The association's request for a ministerial delegation to evaluate its accounts was rejected.

In May 2021, an audio recording emerged in which Bhila directed Cottco to cancel a tender for a 31-seater bus that had been given to Sasavona Logistics. John Manganye, a failed MDC Alliance candidate in the 2018 elections, owns this company. Bhila's instruction came after Manganye offered a donation to Chiredzi Polyclinic, which was turned down by Zanu PF candidate Farai Musikavanhu.
Bhila demanded the withdrawal of the tender during a leaked call with Cottco's business manager, Innocent Gukwe, due to the political affiliation of the company owner. Gukwe elucidated Cottco's impartial tender awarding process, but succumbed to pressure and ultimately retracted the tender as directed by Bhila.

Two thieves connected to the burglary of Dingani's shop in Chiredzi South Ward 6 Chambuta were caught and publicly shamed, causing a stir.

Lucky Ndunduma and Samson Ndunduma, who purportedly share a fraternal bond, were captured and detained on charges of burglary in Chambuta, having broken into a shop belonging to Dingani the previous night. Reportedly, the two had targeted the shop with the expectation that any rain that fell would help erase their footprints. Once inside, they absconded with unspecified money and sundry items.

Thanks to the sleuthing skills of Gezani Mangende, a resident of the area, the culprits were traced to their hideout. Upon being confronted, the two suspects were subjected to questioning and interrogation, which ultimately elicited confessions to the crime. All stolen goods were subsequently recovered.

This event is particularly significant considering the recent spate of robberies that have been plaguing shops in Chiredzi South weekly.

James July VS Chiredzi South Diaspora Community on the Lucerne project.

A controversy arose following Mr. July's disclosure of the results of their clandestine meeting with Hon. Joel Sithole in an undisclosed location near Masvingo on February 23, 2024. The diasporans were dismayed by the details discussed in James July's statement, which unveiled the truth and sparked a heated debate exposing his secret objective about the Lucerne project.

I had a productive meeting with the Member of Parliament in Masvingo, discussing the Lucerne project for over 2 hours. "As a concerned citizen of Chiredzi South, I believe it is my right to meet with the MP to discuss the issues affecting my area. I suggest that a neutral mediator, not affiliated with sugar cane farms or politics, is necessary. I am willing to assist if this project moves forward," he added.

The MP informed me that 85% of the residents in Chiredzi South are not interested in the project and that he is supporting the constituents who voted for him.

After his statements on the WhatsApp platform of Tihlo Ra le Hlengweni News, the diasporans bombarded him with questions for over 12 hours without receiving any answers. He was accused of intruding into delicate matters that could harm the lives of many. Some speculate that he is attempting to attract people's attention to the project to perhaps replace Lilian Muungani at Dendairy and become its public relations representative.

Dr. Douglas Gumbo, who ran for the MP seat in Chiredzi South Constituency with the CCC political party in the last general elections but lost to Hon. Joel Sithole Zanu PF, remarked and cautioned Mr. July about the idea. He explicitly identified the cartels responsible for the project, revealing that it was designed to benefit high-ranking politicians rather than the general population.

We contacted the MP after recognizing the photo with Mr. July to inquire about the purpose of their meeting. The MP verified the encounter, stating that it was arranged at the request of Mr. July. They met while the MP was on his route to submit scholarship applications for three pupils in Masvingo, named in Chiredzi South.
He informed Tihlo Ra le Hlengweni News over the phone that he is available to meet with constituents, and he indeed participated in a 2-hour meeting with James July. He informed him that the Lucerne project would not move further due to lack of interest from over 85% of the population."
