I was 8 months pregnant with an 11 month old when lock down was first introduced into our lives.
I relied heavily on my partner’s support (having him home 24/7 was an upside😄) but I knew that I had to be the calm in this storm for my kids, no matter what, life had to go on.
So in that spirit, we celebrated my son’s 1st birthday (indoors of course) and welcomed his new sibling shortly thereafter. We made sure to keep both our kids busy, engaged and exploring with games such as mirror-mirror, peek-a-boo, tactile toys, dancing, evening walks and climbing stairs😅 (the last one was admittedly of their free will).
We created our own fun and celebrated each milestone. I tried capturing all the special moments that we had for them to look back at, and maybe these will becomes tales that they share with my grandkids one day😅

One of the most rewarding roles that I’ve had to play is being a mother. It changed me for the better and grew me in ways I never thought possible. That being said it is also the toughest job of all, from the early days, pulling all nighters and involuntarily becoming team no sleep🥴, right through their adolescence years😩. (I’m not even there yet but I’m already cringing over it)
This was all before our whole world changed because of Covid-19. The lockdown presented so many NEW challenges and we tried our best to at least have it not also rock our children’s world. I was barely coping with the help of my partner so I can’t imagine how it was/is for all my single parents.
So I’d like to take this opportunity to recognise and celebrate those single mama’s and papa’s, especially the mama’s that continue to pull all the stops for their little ones during these unprecedented times, rain or shine! 😄
We see you, we love you and appreciate you. And maybe your little ones are too little/ teen to say but you Rock!!! 🦸🏽♀️
