On Fridays we support local businesses! This time I asked the public – and I just want to THANK YOU for everyone’s suggestions! We’ve got so much talent here in SA.
This week we chose one for the sweet tooth’s! Spoon Bakery is a small home-based bakery in Helderberg that started out in 2021. Or as they would say: “spooning since 2021”. It is run by two young chefs who specialize in patisserie and who have an enormous passion for food and people. They have the most amazing jar range, biscuits, mini bakes, artisan breads & custom cakes!
I also simply love how they photograph their products. You should see their artisan marshmallows! They come in Vanilla, Passion Fruit and Raspberry flavors. Check out the pictures – they look amazing! Listen: I’m pretty sure if I were a marshmallow, I’ll be this type of marshmallow.

This week we would like to present Martinus Illustration. Listen, if you've not already heard about this amazing artist you are in for a super treat. I've had the immense privilege to have had him attend one of our Last Thursday Art Exhibitions a couple of years ago, and MAN can this guy draw!
He drew everyone who attended the exhibition - the people absolutely loved it! You should do yourself a favour and check out his Youtube channel where you can see how he draws from start to finish.

What is the first thing you do when you search for any business online? Let's say you want to know if Mr Price Home Somerset West is open today.
You open Google - don't you? And if that "little box" with all Mr Price Home's info didn't come up on your search, how likely are you to then go and search for them on Facebook instead to get the info you need? My guess is not so likely. If this is the case for your business, you would have likely lost a potential customer right there.

Social Media jargon can get overwhelming sometimes. To explain it simply, let's talk specifically about a Post on Facebook or Instagram:
⚡️ Organic reach refers to the amount of people your post reached by itself. Therefore, it accumulated likes, shares and reactions organically.
⚡️ Paid reach refers to the amount of people your post reached by putting money behind it & Boosting it to a specific audience.

GUESS WHAT? THERE IS HOPE!
I've seen so many new businesses starting out on social media with so much hope and excitement. I've seen them spend hours designing and posting adverts to their pages & uploading products to their Facebook shop, but after a couple of weeks of putting in all that time and energy the following happens: (is this you?)
> You don't get the engagement you wanted, or it begins to decline slowly.
> You start comparing yourself to similar, more successful businesses and become overwhelmed.
> You don't get any sales/leads via social media and start to wonder if there is even a point to using it at all.
If you've identified yourself above, great! Keep reading! The questions you should be asking yourself is, “Is there a way to improve this?”, and most importantly, “can I do it myself?" The good news is that the answer is Yes and YES.
I'll never forget this valuable tip that I learned from someone that I highly respect in the industry: "Step one is to always remember, social media is supposed to be Social. That's why it is called SOCIAL media." And yes, this changes the game. The key here is Balance. Maintain a balance between advert posting and engaging with your followers "socially".
Secondly, understanding your business’ sales funnel and knowing where social media slots in will give you a better idea of how to use it to your advantage.
I must be honest, it's a bit of a thinker. Also, in no way am I saying that doing ONLY this will guarantee your business’ success, however, really understanding this concept will get you further ahead than most and is a crucial first step to getting your business on the right track.
