Metso has announced the commercial launch of MX wear parts for cone crushers, aimed at maximizing the lifespan of wear parts in secondary cone crushing applications for mining and quarry operators globally.

This innovative technology, developed by Metso, enhances the wear profile longevity by ensuring better liner utilization compared to standard manganese liners. According to Metso, MX for cones can deliver up to double the wear life in secondary crushing applications.

With fewer change-outs, the MX technology helps alleviate maintenance labor shortages and reduces the risk to personnel. The extended wear life also translates to a decreased need for liners, resulting in sustainability benefits across the supply chain, as MX for cones is fully recyclable.

The GeoMoby communication system enhances safety and efficiency processes at the Gordon Sirdar mine.
GeoMoby reports that its real-time, location-based communication system is enhancing worker safety and operational efficiency at FMR Investments Pty Ltd’s Gordon Sirdar underground gold mine near Coolgardie, Western Australia.

Recognized as one of the most reliable underground mining communication technologies globally, GeoMoby utilizes Bluetooth Long Range. Additionally, the installation costs for GeoMoby’s system are expected to be significantly lower than those for traditional communication equipment.

The Gordon Sirdar mine was the venue for the 2023 Underground Emergency Rescue Competition (UMERC), organized by the Chamber of Minerals and Energy. For the event held last November, GeoMoby deployed its underground solution, which included 35 nodes—referred to as “green lunchboxes”—across seven levels of the mine, accomplished in just 10 hours.

Water is an essential resource for populations. In the Haute Matsiatra and Amoron’i Mania regions of central Madagascar, managing water presents significant challenges. Conflicts over water use frequently arise among residents sharing the same watersheds. In response, GRET and Agrisud International have joined forces to promote equitable water management through the Marindrano project, officially launched in April 2024.
