TRANSPARENCY CONCERNS ARISES AS MUNICIPALITY HIRES WORKERS FOR A NEW ROAD PROJECT AT GA-THAKO BY KGOTSO DOREEN MAWASHA GA-THAKO:The villagers of Ga- Thako which is under Greater Tzaneen Municipality, ward 9 in Bolobedu laid a complaint on the municipality and the royal council about the hiring process on the new ongoing road project. One of the main grievances voiced by the villagers is the lack of transparency in the hiring process. It is alleged that the municipality did not follow the database of local workers who were eager to take part on the project. Instead, they hired out of favor , leaving many community members feeling sidelined and undervalued. "This project could have been a great opportunity for our village to come together and showcase our skills and talents," lamented one resident,"But instead, it feels like decisions were made behind closed doors, without considering the expertise we have right here in our own backyard." The sense of frustration is noticed among the villagers, who feel a deep connection to their community and a strong desire to contribute to its growth and development. As tensions continue to simmer, calls for greater transparency and community involvement in future projects have grown louder. The villagers are demanding that their voices be heard and that decisions affecting their community be made in a more inclusive and consultative manner. In response to these concerns, Neville Ndlala the Greater Tzaneen municipality spokesperson says the workers on the Thako Regravelling Project were appointed using the EPWP database and were not handpicked. Neville Ndlala says the municipality advertised for people to apply to be included in our database from 18 March 2024 to 17 April 2024. A MASSIVE MANHUNT LAUNCHED FOR SUSPECTS WHO SHOT-KILLED MOTHER AND SON AT SHAWELA VILLAGE SHAWELA VILLAGE : The Police in Bolobedu activated massive manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a woman aged 56 and her son aged 40, on Sunday, 19 May 2024 at Shawela Village at around 06h00. Speaking to Perfect Radio News, the police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the Police were notified about the shooting incident and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a male victim lying down in a pool of blood inside the house, with gunshot wounds. Members of Emergency Medical Services were immediately dispatched to the scene and he was certified dead. His identity is currently withheld for investigation purposes. The Police were further informed that a 56-year-old woman was also shot during the same incident. She was transported to a local hospital and unfortunately, she also lost her life. Preliminary investigations revealed that unknown suspects knocked at the residence of the 40 year old deceased man, and he went to the gate, and a heated argument ensued. His mother also went outside to check, and gunshots were heard. The male victim ran inside the house and collapsed. A 63 year old man , the father of the 40 year old , also went outside to check and found his wife lyng in pain with gunshots. She was rushed to hospital, unfortunately she succumbed to her injuries.. The motive behind this brutal attack which resulted in the killings is unknown, but further Police investigations will determine.
