WARNING | INCLEMENT WEATHER AFFECTING VISIBILITY ON THE ROADS
LIMPOPO : The National Department of Transport has received weather reports from the South African Weather Services (SAWS) regarding the inclement weather conditions that will continue to affect the country’s roads until Friday the 10th of January 2025.
Heavy rain, strong winds, and reduced visibility are expected to persist throughout, creating hazardous driving conditions.
Limpopo is among the provinces that will experience poor visibility and slippery roads from Wednesday, 8 January, particularly on the following routes:
- N1 and R101
- N11 in Marble Hall
- R33 from Lephalale
- R40 from Phalaborwa
- R524 from Thohoyandou to Makhado
- R71 from Tzaneen to Polokwane
- R81 from Giyani to Polokwane
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
•Avoid driving at night
•Switch on headlights during the day
•Keep a safe following distance
•Reduce speed on slippery roads
•Avoid crossing bridges with water overflow
