Rwanda: Chinese businessman sentenced to 20 years in prison for torture

Sun Shujun is a mine manager who was seen in a video whipping a Rwandan after tying him to a pole. He suspected them of stealing minerals and proceeded to torture as a way to "punish" them. The video went viral on social media since August 2021 And got the attention of Local authorities who watched to bring justice around the issue that occured in the outskirts of a cassiterite mine in Rutsiro district, in western Rwanda, near Lake Kivu.

The Chinese man was found guilty of mistreating two Rwandan employees and his fate was sealed today with a 20 years jail term. The Chinese embassy in Kigali reacted to this and called on Chinese companies and citizens to respect the laws of Rwanda and on the Rwandan authorities to protect the rights of its nationals.

US and NATO send more heavy arms to Ukraine.

Considered a dangerous move, but a ‘Risk worth taking’, the US is sending highly sensitive shoulder-fired missiles to Kyiv to assist them fight back Russian invasion.

The items sent are portable air defence systems, such that can take down aircrafts, according to senior US defence officials. This has been termed a dangerous move because the weaponry may fall in the wrong hands, plus, this will continue to enrage Russia who has repeatedly warned against the West multiplying weapons towards the East, which would have huge consequences.

On February 13, 2022 Ukraine forces received US-made FIM-92 Stinger missiles, man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) shipped from Lithuania to the Boryspil Airport in Kyiv. These has greatly helped Ukrainians to fight and resist Russian takeover.

As talks between Russia and Ukraine enter day 2, here are the three strong conditions set by Putin since day 1 to be scrupulously respected.

1- The recognition of Russia's sovereignty over Crimea.

2- The total demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine.

3- Ukraine must have a neutral status and should not join NATO.

Ukraine pleads to 'urgently' join the EU

President Volodymyr in a video message from Kyiv this Monday urges the European Union to grant Ukraine "immediate membership" into the body adding, "our goal is to be with all Europeans and, to be equal to them. I am sure we deserve it. I am sure it is possible."

In his message, he emphasized, "We appeal to the European Union to urgently admit Ukraine using a new procedure."

This move will certainly anger President Putin the more as officials arrived the Ukraine-Belarus borders for talks. If this is urgent request is granted, Ukraine will benefit from the full military power of the EU and the war might intensify to a real WW3.

Again, What does Russia want?

President Putin doesn't want Nato's eastward expansion. He explained, "do they think we'll just sit idly by?"

President Putin said Russians and Ukrainians are "one nation", therefore, Russia wants to ensure "Ukraine never, ever becomes a member of Nato." He doesn't want modern Ukraine to be a puppet state, controlled by the West. Since Russia gave independence to Ukraine, the US and Europe has wanted to acquire them.

Vladimir Putin -
"Let's imagine Ukraine is a Nato member and starts these military operations. Are we supposed to go to war with the Nato bloc? Has anyone given that any thought? Apparently not".

Mr Putin wants US and Nato to remove its forces and military infrastructure from member states, that is Central Europe, Eastern Europe and the Baltics because the West promised back in 1990 that Nato would expand "not an inch to the east", but they've done so.

So Putin does not want Russia to be blocked from all angles by NATO troops, especially as the West also wants to use Ukraine, which is a territory they consider part of hers. He prefers to hit first and make sure Ukraine understands by force that this isn't an option.
