“GOOD v BAD”

“RIGHT v WRONG”

You ask a catholic about a Mormon they will say they are wrong and going to hell. As a Mormon about a catholic and they say they same thing.

We live in this world of labels and certainty’s but here’s some irony.

Most people I have encountered have no fu***ng clue what THEY really believe. Sure many think and say they do, but most people have never established their own relationship with God, they just ride what they were programmed to believe.

We say this or that is GOOD or BAD but what makes it so? Your opinion? What mom and dad told you? What a church or religion said since you were a toddler? What you read in a book that’s someone else’s opinion? I lived this way for many many years. Telling people what was RIGHT or WRONG based off a book written by someone else.

I’m 42 years old and I ask WHY more than a 10 year old. Not to be defiant but because I WANT TO KNOW. And know what happens to people when you ask them WHY and they they themselves haven’t discovered that WHY?

They lose their fu***ng minds. It’s a fascinating observation questioning people.

“You need to come back to church Sean” say my religious friends. Yet when I ask them even the simplest questions on their own relations to divinity they refer to a passage of another mans opinion.

“Why do you believe this or that about politics, taxes, or law” I’ll ask. F**K YOU RACIST is what I’m met with from a feeble mind that is spoon fed political and societal headlines.

It’s a fascinating thing this life. We think we know so much yet literally have no clue what’s on the planets that surround this rock we live on let alone what’s deep in space.

We question very little yet plant our flags and scream from the House tops THIS IS BAD, THIS IS WRONG, I AM GOOD, YOU ARE BAD with such conviction! Hell, many of scream these certainty’s in the name of God, yet don’t even know what or who God really is.

Perhaps GOOD and BAD isn’t what we think it is. Perhaps RIGHT and WRONG is a label used by simple minded folks to quickly avoid their own insecurities and deter conversation from a place they are unfamiliar?

Perhaps the journey to discover and search for these meanings is the actual calling of this existence? To challenge ourselves. To question everything we think we “KNOW” and continue to quest for more? Perhaps these terms RIGHT or WRONG are excuses we use to not explore what we are unfamiliar with or possibly afraid of?

What a fascinating ride this is....
