*REMINDER: PLANNED WATER INTERRUPTION BY RAND WATER* from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July 2024.

Please be reminded that *Rand Water will stop pumping water* from the Mapleton system for 3 days from Friday 26/07.
The reservoirs will be filled as best possible Thursday evening.
*_Water should please be used very sparingly by all._*
No watering of gardens, car washing, etc. should be done.
*_Please make sure you store some drinking water._*
A very large part of the city may be affected by this delay in water provision to the reservoirs.
It is unlikely that water tankers will be readily available.
remember that Rand Water will not be pumping water, starting on 26 July, for 77 hours.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has issued another warning to taxpayers currently submitting their tax returns.
Rand Water's comprehensive maintenance programme:
Palmiet and Mapleton Systems, which supply water to the City of Tshwane, is set to resume from 15, 19 and 26 July 2024 and is expected to be completed on 29 July 2024.
19 July 2024: No supply for 12 hours
26 July 2024: No pumping for three days
The following reservoirs and bulk meters will be affected:
Klapperkop Reservoir:
Eloffsdal, Gezina, Rietfontein, Rivieria, Prinshof.
Queenswood Reservoir:
Colbyn, Deerness, Koedoespoort, Koedoespoort 325-JR, Môregloed, Queenswood.
Rietfontein, Rietfontein 321-JR, Rietondale.
Villieria and Waverley
Villieria Peak Tanks:
Wonderboom South
Waverley Reservoir:
Bergtuin, Eastlynne, Koedoespoort, Waverley.
Power returned to Waverley and Queenswood.

Eskom begins power cuts
Eskom has announced that it will resume load reduction in specific supply areas where network overloading is threatening critical electricity infrastructure.
It emphasised that load reduction is not load-shedding, as it still had sufficient generating capacity to meet the country’s electricity demand.
“While Eskom has suspended load-shedding for 103 consecutive days due to sufficient generation capacity, the issue of network overloading has resurfaced with the onset of winter,” the state-owned power utility said.
“This issue is prevalent in the Eskom supply areas in Limpopo, Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, and North West.”
Eskom noted that transformer overloading was recorded mainly during peak hours around 05:00 and 07:00 in the morning, and 17:00 to 19:00 in the evening.
“In areas where load reduction has been implemented in the past, Eskom has seen a significant reduction in equipment failure and prolonged outages.”
During winter, Eskom said there is an exponential increase in energy demand in areas prone to electricity theft, as electricity is often used indiscriminately, leading to network failure due to extreme overloading.
“There are currently around 2,111 transformers which are frequently overloaded across the country at risk of being damaged, with around 900 transformers awaiting replacement,” it said.
Eskom said it has invested resources and increased capacity to meet the exponential demand in these areas prone to overloading over time.
Despite these investments, demand has continued to grow, rendering the situation unsustainable.
“Eskom has been engaging with various communities, educating them on the safe and efficient use of electricity. In some areas, Eskom has removed illegal connections; however, network overloading persists.”
Eskom said that while it aimed to exclude paying customers from load reduction, the network’s configuration does not allow for dedicated supply lines to paying customers, making it impractical to service them separately.
“To prevent load reduction and abrupt loss of supply, customers are urged to reduce their consumption, ensure that the electricity they consume is legally connected, paid for, and purchased from legal vendors, and to report illegal activities,” it said.
“Additionally, customers are encouraged to switch off non-essential appliances, such as heaters and geysers, and use alternative heating methods.”
There is currently an issue at Bellom Sub 2 a red phase some parts that was off was Back feeded to other Transformers thus not everyone's supply was restored.

You will receive 3 numbers when you buy.
You have to enter your 1st Key Change token until it shows successfull.
Then you do the same with the 2nd Key Change token, until it shows successful.
Only then will it accept your 3rd token which is the Electricity purchase token.
The different meters do not seem to do the software upgrade at the same speed.
We have one of the very old Prepaid meters and it took quite a while to eventually register the 1st token as Successful.
It gave a few error codes, then a failed message and eventually it said Successful.
Then we could start entering the 2nd token - also more than once. And then the 3rd token immediately worked and gave us the prepaid credit.

The concrete support keeping the bend in place must then be reinstalled. The contractor still estimates that the work will be completed by 17:00. Water will then again be opened, and the slow process of the network and reservoirs that need to be filled out again will start. *I will endevour to provide an update as close to 16:00 as possible.* *Note:* Water tankers will be deployed at the same locations as last night. There were some challenges with new drivers that apparently didn't know where to go, but the contractor said this is all sorted now.
